Cheers Paul, Looks like it was a the starter motor, stripped it out yesterday, cleaned and remounted and she started first time. So job done.

After 4 years my 2001 Fazer 600 has finely let me down… Started this morning without fuss, stopped at shop for pie and paper, but she failed to start, all I was getting was a clicking from under the seat (starter relay?), press button = click. The battery is charged up fine, but bought another one and still the same. Is this likely to be the starter/bushes, or any other part of the press button brum brum process? Any advice would be appreciated, as she is a large part of my life, and I will need to buy the bits in, so I would hate to buy the wrong bit. Oh, she will bump start, but thought I'd left that behind in the 80's with my XT500 Many thanks

My Fazer is the same, but only in the cold. It is a known problem where the heating pipes around the carbs fur up and no longer warms them up. Mines starts fine in the morning, by the first set of traffic lights she is getting lumpy, then by the time I'm in work she cuts out and I'm coasting the last bit. Leave it for a bit and if she wont start, change the plugs and we're away. The way round it is to change the freezing point of the petrol, add 200ml, per tank full of petrol of Silkolene Pro FST. This will sort it out if it is that...... Found this tip last year on a Ducati forum as they suffer aswell Forum link of same
