Engine rattle
Thanks for the quick reply, it was ont of the things I was thinking of checking, but don't know how to check. What would be the best way of doing this?

Engine rattle
Just posted this and realised I forgot to ask. Would poor valve clearance cause the acceleration to be affected? Likewise the timing chain?

Engine rattle
Hello everyone Hoping someone has some advice. I have a YP250 4 stroke. It recently had a new camshaft & bearings installed. Since then it has a rattling noise in the engine. Very predominant when accelerating and almost disappears when idle. The acceleration is also quite sluggish. I have thought this may be tappet settings or the timing chain. Any ideas anyone?

Engine knocking update
Hello everyone This is an update to my post on the knocking engine saga during the week. I have taken the bike in to the garage today for a checkup. (Reminder YP250 Majesty - 4 stroke liquid cooled engine with knock after low oil). I have now been told it is the cam that is knocking, I have given it an engine flush, and changed the oil. The mechanic told me the bike should be fine to ride for a few more thousand miles like this. What do folks think of this? Should I be riding the bike at all? How difficult is it to repair this kind of problem? I am technically minded so would be happy to tackle it myself. I would imagine it is one of the bearings that is shot. Many thanks for any help.

Engine knocking
Hi It's a 4 stroke. I have a feeling I may have popped one of the bearings. I haven't had time to really check anything. Dropped the bike off and ran to the train. The only thing that surprises me is that I managed to get the bike home with a burnt out bearing. I thought the engine would give a bit of grief if it was the bearing, and not really run at all. Is there any way to check if it is a bearing without splitting the engine?

Engine knocking
Hello, I am hoping someone might have some advice for me. I have a YP250 Majesty. On the way to work this morning I had a loss of power after about 5 mins riding. I pulled over and saw the temp guage had shot up. I switched the bike off, gave it a couple of seconds and switched on. The engine kicked up straight away and had full power, but had a knocking sound coming from the engine. It sounds as if the exhaust had popped. I got the bike home and found the oil was a bit low, operating temp was normal, but this knock was still there. If I rev the bike (reluctant to this) the knocking speeds up and gets louder. Any ideas or advice appreciated.
