Hi Everyone Went out on my new bike for the first time on Sunday morning, i went for a leisurely 1 hr ride down some nice wide country roads and through a few little villages. Brilliant start to the day. As for the bike it's amazing, i have to say though that i don't think i took it above 8000rpm, it's my first bike so i'm not going to go silly, i've got a hell of a lot of riding to do before i'm evening compatent but i'll just take it easy to start, anyway here's a few pictures.

I'm posting another post with a few piccies, the insurance was £313 with £250 excess, i'm 31 and it's garaged in Essex which probably helped. Thanks everyone for the Helmet advice
  7. I've decided to take back this protector, it's just far to obstructive http://www.planet-knox.com/detail2.aspx?ID=22 I've ordered one of these, which fits inside my jacket http://www.mcaleicester.co.uk/products/saf...accessories/530 I didn't buy my gear from MCA originally but i have to say they were brilliant! One other question about my new bike, it's 12 months old and is due a service, when i bought it they said all bikes were serviced before sale so assumed it would be the needed service and i'd have a stamp in the book but i haven't, would a pre delivery service be different from a scheduled one and will i have to pay for a service immediately now but in additon to the price of the bike, i'll call them Monday to confirm
  8. Hi all, as i've said in a previous post i've had my first bike delivered today, to be sensible i thought i'd get alot of good clothing etc, i bought Dainese Delta leather trousers and jacket, when i tried them on in the shop the jacket felt abit tight and the trousers were fine, apparently the jacket should be tight and you should just about be able to get your hands in your pockets which i can, now the fella also sold me a KNOX back protector, now when i put this on the trousers and jacket are really tight as i guess it adds a couple of inches as it goes into your trousers at the back and sticks out round your back. I don't want to take the labels out as it's £520 worth of kit, is this normal, will it feel ok when riding, will everything loosen up or should i take it all back and get a size up. I phoned the bloke and he just said, err thats wierd it should be ok. I want to take the bike out tomoorow morning so i am trying to persuade myself it'll all be ok. What do you advise Thanks

Hi Everyone, thankyou for you responses. In all honesty i didn't set out to get an R6 but with the money in my pocket i got a bit carried away and with the encouragement of the dealer i went this way. I am very aware of the fact that i haven't any experience and am not the sort of person to over rate my ability, it probably won't make any difference but hopefully the driver training in the car i have done may help in some ways. I am fully aware that i am riding a serious piece of kit. As for the 1/3 rule Tantalus, thank you for that advice and i will take this into account on every overtaking manouver. My initial intentions are just to get the bike out early weekend mornings and ride round the local countryside but as you say time in the saddle is what counts so maybe i should use it in different situations. My point about the helmet is, is it worthwhile me spending £400 on an Arai one, if it is then i'll spend the money, are they that much better. Another question, the dealer advised me to get myself on the Ron Haslam race school after 6 months as he said this will be the best way to improve my skills and become confortable on the bike, do you agree? Thaks again everyone!

Hi Everyone , just thought i'd introduce myself, i passed my DAS a couple of months ago and bought my first bike which is being delivered this Friday. It's a 2005 Model R6 with the upside down forks etc. I bought it from Infinity Motorcycles in Clapham for £4995, it's black (Raven i believe) and has covered 4000 miles it was first registed at the end of May 2006 so still has one years warranty. I could have spent more and bought a newer model but decided that the extra money was best spent on decent leathers, boots, gloves, back protector etc. I already had a HJC Helmet that i use for trackdays in my Lotus Elise but i'll probably upgrade this soon enough (is this necessary?) I must admit i'm both excited and a tad nervous about the proposition as i realise it's quite fast for a first bike.
