Saddlebags for xv125
No need to move anything, but bag supports which screw onto the chrome strips on the fender are suggested to keep the bags away from the drivetrain etc. Got a pair of tech leather ones for my 125 off ebay for 50 quid new. They just sling over under the back seat, don't know why you would want a support bar? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cruiser-Motorcycle-Motorbike-Panniers-Leather/dp/B0092E8IBS/ref=lp_303846031_1_9/277-2288301-2021028?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1463749308&sr=1-9 Ignore that, I read it as xvs125!

For sale section
Cheers Drewpy, but there is no 'Start New Topic' or option to post on there?

For sale section
Is the For Sale forum not available to advertise a bike on anymore? Or am I just being thick?

SMH10 is bang on. And the voice control actually works well.

Now ive lost power
Also, drain a bit of fuel and check if there's any water droplets in in. Happened twice on mine, always the wet seasons fuck it up.. Summer and winter, no problems.

Front disc bolts
Cheers. Will have a look around.

Front disc bolts
Afternoon Here's a thoroughly dull question for you. I'm replacing the front disc on the 125 and need to change the bolts as they look a bit shoddy. Can I get some in the same dimensions from a local nut & bolt dealer or would they need to be specifically Yamaha / motorcycle specific?

XVS125 - Oil leak this time...
Using dry lube so it's not that. Didn't think of the breather, I don't think I overfilled it though. Cheers Slice, it appears its a static disc so looks like its just fucked.

XVS125 - Oil leak this time...
Cheers guys. Just ordered a new seal off ebay, will see if it helps. Off topic, I saw a video on here the other day about about brake bobbins. Do all bikes have floating discs or are the ones on a dragstar static. Mine is flagged as running out and am wondering if I can do anything before buying a new disc.

Bike brake bobbins.
I was about to buy a new disc! Definitely doing this first, cheers!! I assume he was using chain and brake disc cleaner.

Penalty Charge Notice advice
Apart from a 'speeding ticket' albeit 34 in a 30 zone (bastards) I've never paid a PCN. Do everything in writing/typed letters as it slows the process down and they can't up the charge whilst you have acknowledged the original letter and are querying the evidence. It costs them a lot more money and time than you and they will not go to court on it unless you are the unluckiest person on the road. And yes, they can't issue a notice based on what they think you did so demand a photo of you on the wrong side stating you will happily pay the £65 upon receipt of this. These guys are brilliant for stuff like this. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk

XVS125 - Oil leak this time...
So to add to the ongoing niggles over the past year, I now have an oil leak but not sure where from? When she's been sitting for a few hours there is no sign of a drip anywhere, it is only when she's been running that it comes out and there is a lot splattered on the underside toward the rear of the engine. Losing what looks like about a tablespoon when it's parked, not sure how much when on the move (keeping the level topped up obviously). It tends to drip from the frame on the left hand side just behind the sidestand, may be running from the seam in the centre (hope not). Not missing a beat and no tapping or mechanical noises of concern but obviously don't want to push it. Have no money till payday though and need the bike for the week. Any simple diagnosis I can do other than the visual after wiping the underside down?

Clutch adjuster, lever end?
Cheers Jimmy, exactly what I needed. Thanks.

Clutch adjuster, lever end?
Sorry it's a bit vague. The locking ring just spins and will not lock onto anything so I'm having to adjust the cable every day. Have looked on line where to get a new one but can't find anything?
-
Clutch adjuster, lever end?
Morning I'm having difficulty locating the adjuster parts at the handlebar lever end of the clutch cable. The penny sized disc seems threaded and the part the cable end screws onto may be a bit bent too. I've got a new cable but I can't find these two little parts. Any ideas or am I being stupid?

Deal or no deal
True. Every comment I see on Yamaha sites these days (bar this one) are pictures of bobbed ones, or people looking for one to bob. Wouldn't it be better to bob ugly bikes and leave these alone? Couldn't bear the thought of anyone cutting mine up.

Deal or no deal
Wow. Lol. The geezer at J&S Northwich is gonna have fun trying to shift that for 3 grand. He must think its a 650.
-
Deal or no deal
Cheers. Most of the 1100s I come across in any decent nick are north of £3999 and I haven't found any 125s going for over £1700 unless they are showroom condition and whilst mine has been looked after by me, it maybe wasn't previously. It's an 1100 Classic with full touring kit, and it's in the shop, not a private sale. A friend is the mechanic there and did the checks before taking it in, all sound underneath, and the monoshock is spotless. Has 12 months shop warranty on it too.

Deal or no deal
Afternoon chaps and chapettes, quick query. Went to get fork seals replaced at the weekend and came across a 2005 1100 Dragstar with under 15,000 on the clock. Bloke has it up for four and a half grand, but may take 3 if I p/x the xvs125. What do you think, worth investigating further?

More bike problems, injectors this time
Check the fuel for water. I went all round the houses for an answer to my intermittent throttle problem until someone checked this. Would've saved me a few hundred quid.

XVS125 not starting / laboured.
I will let them know their mechanic needs a word considering they are the UK's original Yamaha dealership.

XVS125 not starting / laboured.
So after all that, it was water getting in the fuel. Haven't worked out how yet but had been getting frustrated with funding the Yamaha dealers christmas party so went elsewhere who said that was one of the first thing they should have checked. Within 10 minutes I was also informed the 'new plugs' had not been changed and the carbs hadn't been properly done. Yamaha had charged me 5 hours labour for that the cheeky gobshites. On the plus side she now has a new MOT and runs lovely, just need a new brake disc now.

XVS125 not starting / laboured.
Thanks. Yeah looking at the manual there is no off position. Took 20 minutes to get her started yesterday, the cold starts are a nightmare and that first 2 miles or so is like pulling teeth, and then she's happy as larry. Riding from Gatwick to Brighton I was taken aback as I watched the speedo steadily rise through 50, 60, 70! and then hit 82!!! Full tank weight of fuel on a stock xvs125, I actually shouted 'OH FUCK' inside my helmet when I glanced at the speedo.
