  1. yeah you're right. serves me right for trying to fill a night shift. the whole forum is pretty dead.
  2. new motorcycle parts don't come cheap. Wemoto sell good quality kit at reasonable prices. For £22 that repair kit looks like a winner.
  3. http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Yamaha/DT_125_X/05/ £9 a pair.

The shim sizes have to be calculated based on a known shim and measured clearance. You should replace the buckets and shims in the places they came from - too late now. Get a workshop manual, read up on checking valve clearances, then check them and fit the correct size shims.

The OE chain on your XJ6N will be o-ring. Yamaha tend to fit DID - make will be stamped on the link plates. Scottoiler is a great piece of kit. Fit, set, forget. Never have to clean, lube or adjust that chain again.

the mod is actually to disconnect the vacuum pipe where it connects to the airbox, not the engine breather! The vacuum operates a flap in the airbox which will be disabled when the pipe is disconnected. you've over pressurised the crankcase and it's blown out the weakest point. it's not a big job to replace the valve cover gasket but you do need to have some mechanical knowledge.
  7. go here and ask: http://trx850.motomaniac.net/forum/index.php most likely place to get help
  8. is it an electric pump or a vaccum pump? if it's a vacuum pump then one of the vacuum hoses from the carbs will go to the pump, usually a smaller hose connection.

Is it possibly a euro bike that's had the clocks changed? Or a converter fitted? I would expect the speedo and tripmeter units to be changed together, not indiviually, pressing whichever button it might be. Does the bike have a digital odometer?

that is, as said, an 00/01 R1. Looks bog stock to me. what do you mean by a hole in the front of it?

    on what bike?
  16. tell them there is less than 5% performance increase - more likely none - and they will probably not increase the premium by much.

read the owners handbook. servicing details are in there.
  18. you mean change from cable clutch to hydraulic clutch? not the same thing as changing from a dry clutch to a wet clutch at all.

I'd go along with that. How long has he left the pump to prime? I remember mine took an age even with the pump set to full.

Anything is better than the OE Mez4's.

I don't think there's anything to stop the drive moving in and out except the pump being bolted on the outside.
  22. martin young replied to URBANTIGER's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
Sounds like the drive and driven gears may not be meshed correctly. Is there a key that locates either of the gears? Could this have been missed off so a gear is spinning? The shaft should move in and out regularly but this can be difficult to spot unless you have the pump stroke set to full.
  23. As you have to fill the forks from the top, why not remove the top fill plug and empty the forks out that way?
  24. so why do you want to use a unit from a different bike? www.kedo.com list a reg/rec for the XTZ750...part number 41072 It's 92.50 euro plus post. They also have a universal unit at 80 euro. Good people to deal with. They stock loads of parts for the Super Tenere.
