  1. Try watching the sky one of these warm nights , somewhere with little light pollution . Guaranteed you'll see stuff moving around that aren't planes or satellites .
  2. Thieving scum !! If the bike isn't physically shackled to something immovable , like a lamp post etc , they'll just throw it in the back of a van . Sorry to hear that man .
  3. Mr Yours , may I enquire as to which exhaust pipes you have fitted to your fine motorcycle ? They look great , cheers !
  4. Sounds like a breather or overflow pipe from the carb .
  5. And make sure the coil is getting a good earth , scrape away paint if you have to .
  6. Lovely clean spark plug + hole in piston = LEAN ,
  7. Result !! Lovely job , I'm thinking of painting my LC tank yellow . Managed to swap a 250 carb for a 350 to match the one I had . Nice advice on the seat cover , fair play !
  8. Just a guess kid but take the cover off the end of the power valve where the cables go on and make sure the PV isn't fouled up with oily crap or that the cables haven't seized . Always oil new cables . If the PV is seized , a strip and clean with new seals and cables will sort it ( I'm guessing that the PV is cable operated ) . If not , time to check the PV motor . Best of luck .
  9. I'm with Airhead on this one . All those original bits can get very expensive , and then if you fall off or drop it you'll be freaked ! Try to get it running well and sort the chassis with new steering bearings and swingarm bushes , wheelbearings etc . It don't have to look good to go good . When you get all that done - then you can polish it , (or roll it in glitter if you prefer ) . Great bike to have , wish I still had mine (thieving scum !) , and very easy to work on , Best of luck !!

    My XV125

Nice little bike Spike . Very tidy looking and well kitted out .
  11. Hi Malleus ! The reason they tell you to have the marks lined up as per instructions is because when both valves are closed there is no (or least ) pressure on the valves , chain , tensioner etc , and so the chain will be less likely to jump a tooth when the tensioner is removed , and much easier to spot and reset if it does .
  12. Check the bulb circuit for a bad earth , vibration (dodgy bulb holder ) can also blow bulbs .
  13. Hi Keith , congrats on your new bike . You'll get more replies if you say hi and give a little background info in the new members section
  14. Make sure the cable is oiled and correctly routed . Make sure you've no air leaks between airbox and engine .
  15. Hi there Snacks ! Welcome to the forum . You'll have to get the plugs out to see if the bike is making a spark . Then you'll need fresh fuel . Then you'll need to replace that burnt out relay . Then you can get properly stuck in . Best of luck with your new bike , don't get put off if it's not easy , it'll be worth it when you've got a decently running reliable bike . Kev.
  16. Get some standard yokes man , get the bike on the road .
  17. Fuck me Foams !! I thought you were jacking in the bikes there for a minute ! Eight years ? Just about enough time to see what it's all about I reckon . Well done mate , and you've the skills , fair play !
  18. The Hurley Stick , in it's natural environment . I've played this game . Proper man's game ! The ladies have their own version called "Camogie" . I'd be afraid to try that though !
  19. It's a process of elimination kid . First check for visual things like cracks in the manifold rubber / bad airbox seal , new plug , filter etc . Make sure you have the carb back to base settings and then you can make a start .

    Wheel Alignment

I never use chain lube Jim , a little engine oil before and after a run . Chains last for years . Saves all the mucky build up .
  21. Waheyy!! Well done Stevie boy ! Don't forget the basics . Many happy miles !
  22. I made Haddock Goujons and battered Monkfish Balls from fish straight off the boat , with chips and curry sauce (kid loves his curry sauce , lol ) . Delicious , even If I do say so myself !
  23. Penetrating oil , heat , working it bit by bit , or in the extreme get the grinder out and cut the bolt as a last resort , making sure you've got the new one ready to go in , and that you dont damage anything else in the process .
