  1. 80 quid! That was very reasonable , almost impossible to get one off stuff like that done over here . Same for crankshafts etc , all has to be done in the UK .
  2. Hmm , I saw one site doing them , guaranteed against damage from fuels , not cheap tho' , http://www.discovolantemoto.co.uk/ , look well made .
  3. Sound ! Might grab a wetsuit and a canoe while I'm there .
  4. Anyone know of anyone making fibreglass fuel tanks in the UK ??
  5. Good lad , I did it myself once and only for a witness coming forward with the car reg I'd have missed out on a sizable injury settlement .
  6. Good advice above . If the front wheel hit the car you should check that the wheel spindle (axle) isn't bent . Take the spindle out and roll it on a flat surface , if it's bent you'll see it easily . A bent spindle will lead to wayward steering . I've seen people become embarrassed/flustered after accidents and , after letting the other party head off without exchanging details , then discovering that they are injured once the shock wears off and the pain sets in . I've also seen people agree,at the scene , to fix there own damage only for the cops to arrive at the door having had a report of hit and run . My advice , - If someone knocks you off your bike - Stay On The Ground - till the cops/ambulance arrives , no matter how cold/wet/embarrassing it feels . Witnesses are more likely to stick around and you won't potentially walk away from justly deserved compensation . That's why we all pay insurance after all .
  7. Not sure man but goggle Mitaka clutch repair kit . Bro says try Yambits .
  8. The plain plates in the DT clutch have cutaways to reduce clutch noise , the cutaways have to be evenly spaced around the clutch basket . Mitaka do a clutch overhaul kit which replaces the rivets with bolts and a new damper . Hope that helps .
  9. You learn fast when it costs money , and none of those work experience lads down at the dealers will care about your bike the way you do . "Sundries" , Pffft! , must've bought fags and a sandwich while working on your bike , or is that when they leave your bike out in the rain , and then the SunDries it off again ??
  10. Well , I did try to warn you . The words silk purse and sow's ear keep popping into my head whenever I look at those photos , lol .
  11. Have a look between the inner and outer plates which make up the links on the chain . If you can see small rubber rings between the plates you'll probably think to yourself "Oh!" , "There they are" . Hence the name - "Oh!, rings "
  12. No that's no problem at all , as long as you don't mind riding in reverse , lol . A friend once had a YB100 which could be bump started backwards . Should have seen peoples faces when they asked for a go !!
  13. A VERY bad movie . Every cloud has a silver lining Slice , lol . Goes like shit off a shovel though !! And those brakes'll put ripples on the tarmac . (She was never a looker to start with ).
  14. As Slice said above , you can take any excess paint off with cutting compound but if the chip is so small I'll bet you wont notice it from five paces .
  15. BEHOLD ! In all her filthy awesomeness! Doesn't actually look too bad (from a distance , lol) , even if I do say so myself !! I've built it , but I'm not feckin' cleaning it !!
  16. Car accessory shops will often have little pots of touch up paint in many colours . The pot has a tiny wire brush built into the cap to remove spots of rust before painting , and a little brush to apply the paint . Careful use of these can hide a multitude . Cost very little .
  17. Just teething troubles I'm sure .
  18. Like I said man , I did for years and never had a problem . Does your bike have an o=ring chain ? They're not really necessary for smaller bikes and the non o-ring chains are considerably cheaper . Does the owners manual recommend "Yamalube" perhaps ?
  19. When I was a courier I always had a Scottoiler fitted and found them to be very good , but I was covering an average of 1,000 miles a week . For commuting I'd still recommend a squirt of clean engine oil every morning or evening , whichever suits . The aerosol lubes are usually too thick to penetrate past the o-rings and wash off very quickly in the rain whereas engine oil gets to the inner rollers no bother . It's up to you but I'd rather not be spraying tenners on my chain every coupla weeks . Oh , and when I did use the Scottoiler I filled it with clean engine oil sourced from leftovers after oil changes , never had a problem . One thing to watch with the Scottoiler is because they are so good an absolutely knackered chain and sprockets can feel quite ok , until the chain snaps ! But you'd probably have to be a courier to let it go that far , lol .
  20. A drop of clean engine oil from a squeezy bottle . Only takes a few seconds to oil the chain and costs next to feck all .
  21. I hear you brother , bet it's more fun than being a single Dad though .

Hahaa! I've a Vee Rubber (yeah right !) on the back of mine . It's actually not bad in the wet , haven't seen much frost yet though .
