Lol, ok so I'm borrowing my brother in laws computer....sorry I haven't posted any progress in a while, Ive been working 12s and college started again. Here's the progress 1 Jets came in from Sigma 7, they apparantly custom build jet kits for your specific bike and altitude so I now have 110s on carbs for 1 and 4 and 112.5s for carbs 2 an 3. Carburetor Done. 2. Stripped the valve cover, jugs, head and side covers, a little JB weld to fill in some gouges on the covers works nicely. 3. I KREEMed my gas tank, no more rusty. 4 Today, I got my valve spring compressor tool. 20$ on ebay and my valve and seals are on their way out While they are out, I will be primering and painting the engine pieces. Question: If I reuse my old valves should I get them reground?

Gaskets came in yesterday....for a Harley Davidson. S.O.B.s. Dont order a complete engine gasket kit from JCWhitney. They will try to sell it to you as a "Universal" motorcycle part. I ordered it over the phone, so I thought the gal was looking up a gasket kit specific to my bike. I even specified that I needed one specific to my bike. What a joke....new gaskets on the way.

Will keep that in mind my computer is on the fritz so my manual is down for the moment . I am draining the fuel now, painted the headers today with barbecue paint, don't worry I will be posting pictures of all of this in a build thread when it's out of the " workshop" Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

Interesting...I wonder if cars are constructed differently from motorcycles or if c.a.I s are just a big scam Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

Found it, wow you've done a lot of nice work on that! I can't decide on a good color for my engine, I'm. thinking white, red,, or black, of course the crankcase will be black because I'm not removing that piece... Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

Feliks, or anyone else lol, have you rebuild the cylinder head on one of these? I have the clymer pdf manual I'd just like to get a real world perspective of it Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

Ok, so here's a list of everything I've ordered : complete gasket set, petcocke rebuild, carb gaskets and float valves, factory airbox, two coils with plug wires, I've already rebuilt the front forks, new grips and windscreen bolts....all I feel like this baby needs is the two Yamaha engine covers and the lower and middle fairings.....anything else I'm missing? So a pod with a wrap would get it closer to stock but the unmodified airbox is still superior for full range air intake, correct? Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

1987 fz600
Yeah I understand the concern....do you have an extra box? Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

So if it ran fine like that, I'm failing to see how the pods would be bad, if I put a sleeve on them I would feel safer and they would be easier to get ony carbs than the 26 year old rubbers of the airbox....thoughts? Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

Honestly, I'm not one of the how-much-power-can-i-get-out-of-it guys, I was only thinking the pod and jet kit route to save some money since an unbroken airbox is a bit more spendy Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

I thought i had found a post where the k&n stage 3 jet kits were 35$. Since my stock airbox is busted would it be better to put pods on and that jet kit in since I'll have them apart anyway? I can't find that post though...yes it is an aftermarket vacuum operated petcock, I order the rebuild kit for the factory one though... Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

Is it a bad gasket causing the fuel to come from the lower part of the jugs? I misread your post at first, I thought you were telling me to take my bike to a workshop lol... Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk

Hey everyone. Still fairly new to these forums, but I think I found the place to post issues(please correct me if I'm wrong). So , Friday, I fired up the 87 fz600, it fired up and ran fine for about 30 seconds and then fuel started pouring out my airbix and out of the number 2 cylinder at the gasket between the jugs and the crankcase. Any thoughts as to why it would flood out so bad? Or how the fuel made it out that jug seal? There was no fuel in the oil, no oil in the fuel, and when I tore it down, I didn't see anything that looked obviously wrong. New gaskets on they way..... Sent from my C5155 using Tapatalk
