Okay I will have a look at that tomorrow but then why won't the left hand side flash now ? Both bulbs work.
  7. KimB replied to KimB's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
Well at first they were staying on and not flashing, there was a front left indicator bulb out though, as I went to replace the bulb it worked again flashing only on the left side and not on the right now ? It seems to flash slightly slower than what I feel it should.

Hi again everyone. I had a look yesterday and again today, minus the bike not ticking over on the choke it seems to run once warm. It has a little bit of hesitation when rev'd hard and fast but I will sort that. Just need to sort the indicator issue, then I can get it in for an mot

Okay, I will have a look, the mixture screw is underneath the carb. I wrote the message forgot to post it before 12 then went and did some work and realized later I hadn't sent it. Good point I know which items you mean but what exactly do they both do ? I will check for leaks and see if the diaphragm is okay. Ill have a watch before adjusting tomorrow, I've been awake since 8am yesterday, not functioning correctly at the moment haha I'll look first thing tomorrow morning . Okay don't want to scare anybody though! One final query, the indicators don't flash they just stay on constant, I looked at the relay and took the cover off it, it doesn't pull the contact back and forth so i'm guessing it needs a new relay ? Thanks again everyon, So happy its almost done. Kim

Good Morning everyone. So first thing I checked was float height which was around 6mm lower than it should have been, so I adjusted that. Put it all back together and it literally started straight away. Only one real issue now which is the revs still don't drop quickly as you can see in the new video, it's running without the choke now. http://youtu.be/Z0oZO2U5JFA The other thing is, surly the with the choke on the bike should tickover higher ? I have to keep revving it with the choke on otherwise the tickover is too low ? Thanks again for all of your help I never thought I would get it working.

Hmm Not sure how I will find the specific measurement now, what a pain the bum.
  14. KimB replied to KimB's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
Hmm that's a good point, I've never had to adjust any float hieghts, could you explain what the best way to go about doing it is.
  15. KimB replied to KimB's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
positive, I could see through it and all the holes were clear on the side.
  16. KimB replied to KimB's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
Probably needs rejetting and or adjusting because it splitters and bogs when I got to rev without choke on.
  17. KimB replied to KimB's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
Okay I will try again tomorrow, but the revs will be all over the place. I will get another video I think.
  18. KimB replied to KimB's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
Yes I did, I have another vid where I lowered the tickover during the video and you can see when i adjust the revs only a tiny bit it almost drops it all the way down to 1k ish. It's very hard to explain and capture what happens but im trying my best to explain, in that video I fitted a brand new choke plunger assembly to see if that would make a difference but it didnt.

I know, It's so bizarre. Nope Pilot Jet isn't plugged, It seems to start from cold now though which is great, I will know tomorrow if the starting is sorted from cold, i will also check the cylinder head bolts too but i'm positive I torqued them.

Here is a short video, starting with choke on a couple revs to show it drop then choke of and it raises on its own. Then again with choke on at the last couple seconds

The slide is on the tickover screw so not the cable, and I set the tickover with the choke on at 1k rpm. But with it off when it shot up to 5k I lowered it only slightly and it starts to drop itself, The drop in rpm wasnt an instant drop it was more of a lower slowly then drop fast all of a sudden. Maybe I will video it and put a video up and see what happens. Let me try that. I will go do it now. Kim

Hi again, Okay I unblocked it, Unfortunately I couldn't unblock it with a piece of .6 welding wire, a bit of a body but i had to drill it with a 1.1mm drill, as soon as i got past the two upper steps on the side of the float bowl it was unblocked. Now it seems to run fun with the choke on the revs drop right down (choke on being the lever lifted up) but as soon as its lowered it raises from 1k revs to about 5k ? Sometimes it slowly drops but it seems to sit there. The slide doesn't move at all when it goes from 1k - 5k rpm but I just noticed there is a spring allowing the needle to raise and lower on its own slightly ? Thanks for all your help so far Kim

Well I really hope so, I did notice it last carb clean but wasn't sure if there was something meant to be down there because i tried the 1mm drill trick, i have some .6 and .8 welding wire, hopefully that will go through. I will strip and go over the choke system again . Fingers crossed.
  24. KimB replied to KimB's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
That's right, well hopefully that's the cause of the issue, i tried to blow it through already with no luck, i measured using a 1mm drill how far down it goes and it only went down in between the first and second step in the first photo. I hand spun the drill bit a couple times and nothing came out, not sure whats stuck in there.

Hi guys, so I had another look at it today, re checked the valve clearances and they were fine, now that you said the carb seems the issue the only problem i noticed was that as you can see in the photos bellow the two holes that lead to the bottom of the float bowl its blocked ? should that be blocked ? I put a drill bit down the long bit of the hole and it didnt go all the way to the bottom ? but the hole at the bottom of the float bowl seemed to go all the way to the other. Also this is choke off ?
