YBR Battery Issue
Well the Leoch has died it appears. Last volt reading 8.6 with ignition on, then 11.6 when engine running after kick start. Would charging the battery and checking discharge time/do another volt reading tell me anything different or should I just go for a replacement battery? The fact the volts are higher when the engines running shows there's nothing wrong with the rest of the bike doesn't it? Just the batt? Is Lextek a decent brand? How would I know a decent brand? I'm oblivious to batts.

YBR Battery Issue
So Ive been having some battery problems. Bike wont start on start button, only kick and I now the the 46 error code which means battery problem. Voltage is low on the batt so ordered a charger so I can do some testing on that. NOW, i realise the battery is incorrect. Yamaha parts list starts to use a YTX7L-BS Yuasa battery which is 6amps but the one i have is a Leoch LB5LB which is 5amps. Could this be the source of all problems and a battery swap will sort it out? Further to that, if i need a battery, will only the Yuasa work or can I use any battery of the same type (YTX7L-BS) I have seen Lextek on ebay which is a lot cheaper than the Yuasa - but do you get what you pay for and recommend any brands?

Engine Number Doesn't Match V5
At least If they matched then i know it was the engine it was manufactured with and could trust the mileage on the mots

Engine Number Doesn't Match V5
Also it concerns me that it could have a different engine in and dont know how that might have been used/abused

Engine Number Doesn't Match V5
Bought my first bike and stupidly didn't check this (didn't check VIN either but luckily that matches). V5 arrived today and the engine number is different. On the bike there is 2 lines of numbers on the engine and looks like this.. *E399E-* then 2nd line looks like this (i put questions marks where the actual numbers are: *??????* On the V5 it looks like this. I put question marks for some of the numbers.. E399E0?????? So the first few characters match but basically not the 2nd line of the engine. The owner didn't mention anything, I know I should have checked and asked but is this heard of to have a partial mis match before I go back and ask the previous owner? Should I inform the DVLA of the change if the previous owner does/doesnt know about it? Is there anyway I can investigate further? Its only had 2 MOTs due to being 2009 and the mileage seems to tally up. Not sure if I should be concerned or put it down to experience. I guess I am more concerned of notifying someone in case the engine was stolen or struggling to sell it due to people being more vigilant than I was.

Turned out it was battery. Kick started worked in the end. Multimeter confirmed its dead. Ordered a charger to charge it up and confirm whether battery needs replacing. Shouldnt really die after a week. thanks all.

YBR 125 not Started Help
Which fluids? I did the oil and put a bit too much in. Could that be a factor?

YBR 125 not Started Help
Could it be battery, even if it started 30mins before and had been ridden throughout that 30mins?

YBR 125 not Started Help
So, haven't run it since buying it last week, go out this morning and didn't start on first button press. Turned it off and tried again and it started. Continued to start a few more times throughout the morning whilst I was checking & topping up the oil and before I went out for a ride. I managed to put a little too much oil in so it went above the max marker slightly. Now, during the ride, went to the garage to check the tyre pressure and when I pulled up, i put the side stand on with the engine running so it cut out. Did the tyres and went to start up again and wouldn't start. Tried a few more times and each time the starter was struggling more and more. I left it for a while and just sat there thinking about starting to walk it to the nearest mechanic in town when I thought about jump starting. So walked with it and let the clutch out and it started - almost run away from me but managed to grab it. Rode home but noticed when stopped at a few lights, the revs were dipping on idle a bit. Left it for an hour and tried to start again a min ago and wouldn't start. Tried to kick it over and didn't start either so now wrapped it up again and looking for help for what to do. Only things I noticed were different to normal are: too much oil engine stopped with kill switch on side stand before it wouldn't start again TLDR - electric and kick start doesn't start engine, symptoms sound like when my battery is low/dying in my car but it had just been running minutes before

Rusty bolts, swing arm and foot pegs
Thanks for the offer.. very generous. I'm over in Stevenage though unfortunatly. Think I might give it a month or so.. get some much needed miles under my belt now. Although the weather isnt helping! I did my CBT in the gales and rain over xmas, so if I can ride in that I can ride in anything!

Rusty bolts, swing arm and foot pegs
Thanks for that. I was planning to attack some of the bolts with WD40, is that as good as Plusgas? Also would you recommended wacking ACF-50 all over it now too?

Rusty bolts, swing arm and foot pegs
I'd love to do it and someday I will but this is my first experience with a bike - only got it on Saturday. Part of me wants to leave it for the time being and just get out and ride as any painting, etc (especially taking the swingarm off) would leave it out of action for a while. I want to get learning. Do you think just covering it with ACF50 for the time being and getting out and riding it would be alright and then look to sort it out in the summer. Here's how it is at the moment and you can see the general rusty bolts and stuff

Rusty bolts, swing arm and foot pegs
Sorry just realised this should be in workshop section, can it be moved please?

Rusty bolts, swing arm and foot pegs
Is there a successful, recommended way to remove this? Just picked up my new ybr and think it needs treating before i give it a once over with acf50. Would rather not take bits off as its all new to me. Sorry if this is asked loads. Im resigned to the fact that the swing arm will need painting too but can that be done while its on the bike and with a brush so not to get overspray? Also what paint and primer is recommended? Swing arm is black which is straightforward enough but what able the panel in front of it that holds the foot pegs? I can upload photos tomorrow if necessary. All chrome work is fine as it goes but bike side of exhaust has a bit creeping. Going to try the coke/ton foil gag on that Last question... Is acf50 enough plus regular rinse down or is it good to spray wd50 on bolts after riding too? This is something my father in law mentioned.

Fresh YBR 125 Owner
New to biking and picked up a 2009 YBR on saturday after doing my cbt last week. Keen to get learning on how to ride properly and look after the bike. Specifically got some rusty bolts and swing arm that would be nice to get advice on the best way to sort.
