Bringing Her Back to Life
The new suspension is pretty cool. It will be nice to have preload and rebound adjustments. I'm very scared of the riding position. The clip ons were hard on the old wrists when I was in my 20's, scared to imagine what it will be like now. Even if it is horrible, I don't think I could sell this one. I've just had it too long. I'd be leery of selling it after having hacked the frame. That bench is cool - it's a heavy bitch though. Works well and didn't cost me a cent. Made it from materials that were being thrown out. The top is galvanized, so it won't rust. The pipes clear the swinger no problem. I may end up with some clearance issues when leaning over. I had to rotate the pipes slightly outwards, about the exhaust flange. I cut and remounted new hangers at the back end to suit the new position. Let me know yer thoughts on the pipe pos'n. Always like to hear other ideas

Not meaning much for us lot in this part of the world. Lol

Me too! But mind you, there some good looking unfaired originals out there. Not mine, but this was what my first bike looked like. A beautiful, unfaired example.

They are the studs that the cylinders slide onto Here's a pic for reference.

My Bobber project
Should have kept the majority of the bike black, except a bare metal stripe down the middle of the bike - accented with 2 white pinstripes. That would give you the best of the bare metal and black. You could keep your fender black.

New project
Post some pics of the race bike. Were kind of partial towards bikes.

You guys in the UK have a lot of aftermarket goodies for them than we have. Bike prices in Canada are still 'reasonable' (but getting worse). That one is sexy. Love the GP exhausts (both exit same side)

Thanks Calum. Some days, it gives me the same reaction. It's a classic, but not an original/stock classic. I'm trying to give it a bit of a GP replica look. I've never had a go on the bigger RZ500 (RD500 for you guys). I had a chance to buy one way back when, and was too chickenshit. I just stuck with the little brother. Lol. If you have a chance to get a 350 - go for it. You won't regret it!!

Gonna have to go the relay route. Can't get the lights to work.

I didn't realize that they needed to be connected in parallel. I thought they needed more resistance, so I just connected in series. I'll use some jumpers to test, then wire permanently.

Bringing Her Back to Life
I really do miss the days of 2 stroke bikes fogging up the streets. Now, I'm excited to see one in the street. I want to make sure I get my back on the road to join the dwindling minority. I never made it to the 87 London show. I did like the TZR body work - I'd love to get one at some point. Post some pics up in my thread if you want. I don't mind a temporary hijack. Lol. I still have all the original suspension components. I should do a comparison at some point. Would be some food numbers to know.

Are you doing a complete resto or a resto/mod? Love those smokers. My next project will be a cafe style 2 stroke RD400 or 350.

Bringing Her Back to Life
Nope, not yet. I only had a chance to figure out the way that I had the load resistor installed, was wrong. Lol. Maybe later on today.

Thanks Noise. I wanted something really bright for the rear indicators. Felix told me about them. I thought they might be big for the back end, bit looks like they just fit. The style seems to work well also. Hopefully I won't be getting rear ended by a soccer mom with these bad boys.

They do look like they belong! I like it. Gonna try to put in my battery and test these this weekend and make sure all is ok. Finished painting and unmasking my upper case.

Wow! No money, a baby, and bike in that shape. If you're serious about doing a decent job - I give you 5 years. I'm generally an optimist, but I'm struggling not to feel crushed by the amount of work you have ahead of you. I'm in the home stretch of my project now. I've lived thru building a bike under your circumstances - minimal project money a small baby, life, distractions. All I can say is keep at it! It will be YOUR distraction and salvation. You'll cherish the moments you can steal away and do some work on it. Good luck my friend!!

What Colour Do You Like?
