  2. Ok thanks for all the info starting to understand how it works a bit better still havent got round to takimg thermostat out again as been a bit busy but haven't used the bike since my last post.might kust change the thermostat anyway if there not too expensive from yamaha.saying that though everything I have got from them so far has been silly money
  3. So is this normal for the dt as some saying yes others saying no.might take the stat out and double check it again as was in a rush Afyer riding home tonight 13 miles last 5 on dual carriageway way at 70temp gauge was still the same left bike standing for 15 mins took rad cap off and using a digital thermometer it read 43 degrees does this mean its not heating up properly. ThanksAlso would this be the thermostat or something more serious
  4. Dunno recess is quite deep looks like it should go in further have ordered another carb body now so hopefully I can make 1 good carb out of 2
  5. Managed to get another front section of carb with same fault and got this one out.but the new screw from tinklers will only turn in 3 full turns tried cleaning thread with a 5 mm tap and will still only go in 3 turns is this normal as old one sat alot further in
  6. after fitting a replacement uses temp switch last night.started up and lefyt ticking over for 20 mins in garage.gauge went up to the middle as it should.however riding it the 13 mile commute this morning it will only warm up at traffic lights and as soon as i start moving again the gauge creeps back down to just above the c.is this normal for this time of year
  7. will try adjusting cable to give it a bit more freeplay.seems odd its only started doing it since i changed oil.
  8. Drained a bit out today when changing neutral switch was still a nice red colour but clutch didnt slip before but oil was 10w40 not 10e30
  9. Am going to drain it at weekend and try a better brand of oil
  10. Tried the above and when wire was earthed oil and netral light came on have ordered a new switch which will hopefully solve it
  11. Thanks will try all the above it definetly needs tidying up its been used and abused for last 10 years by the looks of it but on the plus side it only owes me 400 quid.

  13. Its a dtr 125 2003 dont known model code though
  14. Right sorry onto the next fault ive found the neutral light doesnt work.tried changing the bulb with no luck.there is a blue wire that comes from the switch to a connector block near thw rad.that is reading 0.10 volts regardless of whether ignition is on or off it is also reading same voltage at bulb holder does this mean its the switch thanks
  15. Will do trouble I found with the dt is everything s cramned into tiny spaces so makes it a bit awkward to work on.couldnt even work out how to get the airbox off when I took the carb off as it seemed attached to everything
  16. Engine speed still rises with revs but definetly sounds like its slipping as exhaust sound when gets to power band is alot different to how it was before doesnt sound right
  17. Red in colour
  18. Yeh castrol 10w40 4t oil doesnt do it in 1st though
  19. Ok will see how it goes might give it a flush with some radflush just to be on safe side have also ordered a temp sender off ebay as yamaha wanted 35 quid did try soldering the tab on the sender that broke off but it went straight to hot as soob as i turned ignition on might of fried it with the soldering iron next problem now lol neutral switch
  20. Oh right more the jets I dont understand and what ones what when I cleaned them there was a small one and in the middle was a larger one with a washer under it that unscrewed out of a larger jet that looked fixed. Removed plug tonight after a 15 mile ride and the tip of the plug was tan but the rest was a sooty black colour so its running a bit richwill have to replace mixture screw sooner rather than later but I was only poodling it on way home cos of bad weather top gear and low revs might of caused it
  21. Ta for the link
  22. Just emoved thermostat and using a kettle tested it and its working opening as it should could it be a blockage somewhere am unsure what it could be the thermostat is bottled to the top of the head theres a pipe going from thermostat to rad and a smaller warmer pipe going to carb and both are warm after running for a short while.theres two pipes comingboff expansion one overflow and one on the bottom this dissapears through the rear mudguard somewhere.am at a bit of a loss now as to what the cause could be
  23. Oh right I see well am off work tomorrow afternoon so will take it out then and have a look canbu recommend any good sites for yamaha spares as so far been using the dealer which tgey stipid amounts of money for bits mixture screw I had off them was 13.50 ouch
