Hi Peeps, Been laying low for a bit because ....... yup the old man passed away end of August. Bummer big time and we'll have to learn to live with that but it's gonna take a while. 85 y/o and he's done it all and more (his words) and he has had a good innings. Sooooo, what's this got to do with Yammy's : bucket list thing. Always wanted to get onto the FJ one day and drive to Holland and back. Hearing that dad was going down hill was a good enough incentive with holiday traffic (still) clogging up the Channel Tunnel. (and her indoors relented) This was not a pleasure cruise. With drive to Holland I mean DRIVE to Holland. 4.5 hours from Truro to Folkestone only stopping for fuel and a stretch to soothe my hurting ass then an hour and a half up the road from Calais. Out on a Friday morning (arriving mid afternoon), stay the night, and back again on Saturday morning, equally ending up in Truro in the afternoon again. 913 miles round trip. Only thing I can say is that Mr. Yamaha has made some quality machines :-) No letters have dropped on the mat from HM constabulary so I think I'm in the clear !!
  2. Here, here !!! Impeccable taste my man
  3. Since it's pretty wet can't you leave a live 220V lead lying around the bike ...... 440V 3 phase would be better If nothing else it'll improve their hair style ..... lol
  4. Down here I see the flipflop, T-shirt & shorts brigade is out again. Oh dear ...... waiting for the big cheese grater to strike
  5. Can't find the topic but we were complaining about cold & damp only weeks ago it feels like. Now the sun's out in anger bombing/commuting down the A-30 to work is pure joy. F8ck, at 100/110 the Yammy sure goes through fuel like buggary

  7. Yup, If I hadn't bought a new XJ-650 in '84 a mate of my dad's XS-650 would have been my first 'proper' bike.
  8. G'day Mate. Look forward to some pics of yer fleet.

Good intel here guys. My RHS stanchion has had the black ring of death around it for abt a year so may try this first as well. If this does work and postpone the dreaded front end dismantling how do you know the fork oil needs topping up ? Thanking thee

Excuse my French and apologize on beforehand for my poor choice of words ....... Got sod all to do with politics ........ get his cronies and line 'em up in front of a wall. Not to diminish the sadness or significance if the scrote blew himself up in an old peoples home ...... but kids ..... no way !!!! Stand strong and spread the love ..... yeah right !! Rant over, carry on.
  12. + 1 No objections here mate. The bike has to be able to tell you when your ability falls short of it's capabilities and not shield/hide it with leccy gizmo's. Old school .... Yeah, so what !!
  13. So did I .......... took me until 4 years ago to finally bag one ... LOL
  14. Awwww .... fuck that !!!!

  17. Jeff and Mike were in an accident, and killed instantly.Upon Jeff's arrival to the Pearly Gates, he is met by St. Peter."Where is my friend Mike?" Jeff asked.St. Peter replies, "Well, Mike was not as fortunate as you. He went in the other direction instead of getting into Heaven."Jeff was bothered by this and asked, "Well, could I see Mike one more time just to be sure he is OK?"So, Jeff and St. Peter walked over to the edge of Heaven and looked down. There was Mike, on a sandy beach, with a gorgeous sexy blonde in a bikini, and a keg of beer."I don't mean to complain, but Mike seems to have it pretty nice down there in Hell," says Jeff."It's not as it appears to be," says St. Peter. "You see, the keg has a hole in it, and the blonde doesn't.
  18. MOT all good ..... now weather t*ts up
  19. That's why I don't go to Yam shops in the first place. Try turning up with a 25/28 y/o bike. They don't even want to know you. Even worse they look at you like ...... 'what stone did you crawl from under with that heap of junk' That's the thanks you get for 35 years of brand loyalty.
  20. Awoke the FJ yesterday from her slumber in the garage to take to work and drop off at the MOT shop on the way back for MOT today. To my current place of work is 31 miles with 20 miles of dual carriage way in between. The feelings goooooooooood
  21. Hi Tinker, XT500 ..... noice !! pics please. Sorry to hear abt your 'disability' ............. was that before the kick starter threw you over the bike or after
  22. If you have the knowledge, proper tools/gear & space in the workshop, fair enuf. Lying on my back/sitting on me arse (knees won't bend for that long) on a concrete garage floor with suspect spanners and not having a clue what yer doing, your likely to do more damage that is good for yerself ..... or the bike. $$ is the only option with a trusted quality shop. The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
  23. Been in the Yammy game for 30 odd years now .............. never got past 1
