The power commander I'm thinking of buying is Vance and Hines own fuelpak, I've tried emailing them about this but haven't heard back. I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject at all, but as far as I can tell, the fuelpak is only there to add a little more fuel, to compensate for more air with aftermarket pipes. So to this end I can't see that it being a U.S. unit makes a difference. Is my understanding right?
  2. I am not to far off from collecting my new Yamaha Bolt now, and i have ordered some V&H pipes for it, which means i need a little box of tricks to sort the fuel/air out. i have bought the pipes from America as they are MUCH cheaper than here in the uk. Its the same story with the fuel contoller, but, i am unsure if a U.S. version of the controller will work with the standard U.K. ecu fitted to the bike. I know the connections are all the same, my concern is will the U.S. box work with my bike as i know emmissions laws are very different between the two countries, or does this not make a difference, as the box should be compensating for running lean/rich. If anyone can shed any light on this i would be most grateful. Thanks Si
  3. I want to strip the piant from just the spokes of my cast alloy bike wheels so that the rims and hubs are still painted black yet the spokes are bare alloy which i will then put a protective coating on. Does anyone know the best way to achieve this?

yeah, thats the issue , the spoked wheel hubs have no provision for the abs sensors. i have decided to go with a standard model. So at least i have the option of fitting the wheels in the future.

Thanks for the info Dt502001, I've been riding for about 9 years, none of my previous bikes have had ABS,these range from a supermoto through to an R1, my car has ABS and it has activated once or twice, and I have to say it wasn't a good feeling in the car really,so god knows what it must feel like on two wheels!! Think I will just go with the non ABS model. The whole maintenance issue sounds potentially costly to.

Seems like the General consensus is go with out the abs, I believe the system works via a sensor ring on the wheelhub, one of my concerns is that should i ever need to replace the brake lever, will it cost more than a standard non abs lever, all stuff worth considering as I am planning to keep this bike quite a while.

i'm not against having ABS at all, in fact i quite like the idea of having it, my problem is that, yamaha are sayin that the spoke wheels that they make for the bike will only fit the standard model that doesn't have ABS, would i be ok to just pull the ABS fuse and fit the spoke wheels anyway?

I'm just about to order my new XV950 but i am having a tough time deciding if i should get the standard model or the 'R' spec. the seat, paint and shocks are different on the 'R' but the thing i am really struggling with is the ABS. It is fitted as standard to the 'R' and there is no option to remove it, where as the standard model doesn't have ABS at all.I know from a saftety point of view the ABS makes perfect sense, but, i was looking through the accessories booklet today and alot of the bits they offer are saying they can't be used with ABS equipped models, imparticular the spoke wheels can't be used, seeing as i really like them and was seriously considering buying them, i am now unsure which model to go for. Could i use the non ABS spoke wheels and just not have functioning ABS or doesn't it work that way? Just after a bit of advice on this before i order, and make a mistake. What would you guys go for? Thanks X-kid

Just wondering if anyone knows where i can find some vintage style tyres, Firestone champion deluxe or similar, in sizes,100/90/19(front) and 150/80/16(rear). im drawing a bit of a blank with it so far, and thought someone here may know if they are available.just as a secondary question if a bike has cast alloy wheels fitted, is there any way a wheel builder could make a set of spoked wheels for it? thanks X-kid

I have had my licence a while but due to one thing and another haven't had a bike for about 3 years. I will probably get my bike from the Yamaha place in Farnborough, but I will have a look at probike. I was hoping to order my bolt this weekend but something has come up that means I will have to leave it a few weeks, I may even leave it until the 14 plate comes out, once I have it a meet up would be great!!! Just out of interest is probike a good dealer?

hi, new to this forum so thought i would introduce myself. I am just about to order a new yamaha bolt, so i dont currently have a bike, i'm in the Reading area so once i have the bike it would be good to maybe meet a few people who are local, as none of my friends ride so i'm a bit of a lone warrior at the moment.
