  1. Oh yeah, was a great time! Yesterday not so much... hit another patch of sand and well...fuck me. Yeah, happaned AGAIN, went down...bike and I are both OK, again, had my leathers on this time, saved me some road rash. I slid about 30 feet this time after hitting the ground... I hate sand. I'll upload the video of that crash later.
  2. Me and Flip (and a pal on his cruiser we had to keep waiting for lol)
  3. Had a meetup with the Ontario members (DT and I lol) and a pal of mine who came along with his Kawasaki cruiser. Took a little trip up and down some mountain access roads here, almost got busted by the police but they missed us by about 30 seconds (the cop was literally pulling in to setup radar right after we went by the parking lot) - and stopped at the beach for a break in between so I snapped a couple photos while we were down there. I'm editing and uploading a video as well so I'll get that posted as soon as it's ready! 4. Once I get organized in there it'll be a lot better, need to build a little work bench at the back and get the shelves up so I can put my tools away!
  5. Was merely stating another method for removing a gas tank dent, in case anyone else was curious that came across this thread. Stripes are gonna look sweet, just need to move them down a tad so they won't get cut off at the seat!
  6. Here's the page in my build thread where I painted my engine:
  7. Since you've already got it soda blasted, that's half the work right there. So: Clean well - I used Spray-Nine - semi diluted - but any grease remover / cleaner should work well, I let it soak for a few minutes then scrubbed with a brush to get all of the parts I couldn't wipe off. Etching primer - nasty green stuff - DO NOT breath it in! - This is the only way to get paint to stick properly to aluminum. Engine enamel - I used Duplicolor brand, and had excellent results. You bake it in the oven when you're done, or you can run the engine through a few heat cycles to cure it.
  8. Apparently Canadians can't view that video... says it's not available in my country. BUT WHY??? lol
  9. haha just gotta make do, could be worse! Haven't had a chance to be on the forums much lately, been catching up on a lot of work, and been getting some riding in whenever I can since it's FINALLY nice enough to! I've been lurking in and reading though.... will get back to normal soon!
  10. lol nothing around here can kill you, unless it gets you while you're doing 100 - you have to go further North to get into the bear, moose, and wolf territory...now I wouldn't want to get stuck up there!
  11. The bike's new bedroom.... 4 times smaller than her last one! She'll just have to make do...still better than being left outside!
  12. Thanks! It's always a nice ride out that way...oh man it sucks in the city so bad! I think of it as more of an Enchanted Forest! Lol!
  13. I'll pop the cover off next week and check em out, maybe even on the weekend if I have time... it's the big move tomorrow though!
  14. Haha thanks man, yeah never hurts to double check stuff from time to time! Guilty as to not checking the valve clearance... I just wanted to get it back together before the move which is coming up in 2 days... got too much else right now, even if they were off I wasn't going to fix it now, I'll check em out at the new place when shit settles down. I have the black permatex but the heat rating on this orange crap was higher, and I figured air-cooled engines can get pretty hot...so play it safe with heat ratings, but I'll keep that in mind for next time! Trying my best anyway...shit falling off after I put it on doesn't make me look like a master mechanic quite yet though... haha I found the real gaskets online from a company in Oregon, but they're discontinued from Yamaha, the dealer couldn't get em.
  15. I used to do paintless dent removal for a little while with my brother-in-law, did lots of hail dent fixing.... gas tanks are a bitch to fix but they can be done with glue tabs and a puller. Put a glue a tab on with hot glue, use the puller until the tab comes off...repeat until dent is gone.
  16. All done! Got taking the carbs out down to an artform now.
  17. Popped the valve cover off, everything was proper at TDC so I reassembled everything and all is good! Woooot! Retorqued the head bolts to 16 ft lbs as well since a couple of them were at around 10 ft lbs
  18. believe it or not he's been riding for a lot longer than I have too! lol I saw lots of mistakes... he went into the oncoming lane once at around 11:25
  19. Put the cam on my buddies Honda while we went for a ride around the country roads here. Enjoy!
  20. Yeah I'm going to re-torque everything while I'm in there!
  21. Ok luckily no further damage was caused... the tensioner is still providing tension to the chain but it's just loose off the engine itself and that's where all the oil came out from! Sucks I need to take off the fairings, gas tank, seat, battery, air box, AND carbs just to get at the thing though. lol Fuck I got lucky I didn't bail on the last turn home though, I had oil ALL over my back tire!
  22. Well I saw some smoke coming out of the back of my bike today, just looked like burning oil...nothing I haven't seen yet but by the time I got home it was smoking from the engine! Upon inspection I noticed the cam tensioner blew off the back of the engine! Bolts must have came lookse... it was still hanging there at least so I didn't lose it. But now I need to take the whole shebang apart to get at it... going to be down for a couple days now... just gotta get this fixed before my move on the weekend! Gah! Bad "timing" .... lol
  23. Let me guess... your wife has been telling you to clean it all winter, but the second you have friends coming over it's spring into action and clean it?? lol
  24. Stopped for a few quick pictures on Spooky Hollow Road here in Ontario, roads are still sandy from the Winter but all in all a great ride!
