  1. Oh man you'll have some fun now!!
  2. Replaced the sprocket bearing tonight. Old ones were visibly rough and felt like sand was in them when you turned them. New ones are nice and smooth!
  3. Haha yeah just need some studded ice tires. Should look pretty wicked! Inspired by the stealth police graphics that we have over here. Haha now who wants to be twins??
  4. Why not post some pictures of your bike (or one like it) and some pics of rear ends you like!
  5. Hahaha next is the flip up license plate! Gah tell me about it! This is the worst winter I can remember in my 32 years of existence! I remember building snow forts in my front yard from shovelling the snow into a big pile when I was a kid but this -30 weather is insane. Global warming they say.... come to Canada I say!! Global warming my fuckin ass! lol We're on natural gas here, I'm just on the edge of Port Dover - so I still have all the city "benefits" - I'd like some land one day, when the wife's done school maybe. We have lots of snow where I live, don't know about down at the point but here there's at least a foot or two everywhere. It's going all black, but I have some YAMAHA decals being made up in reflective black vinyls..... they are going to look so sweet!
  6. Looks like you've got your work cut out with those fairings! Airtech streamlining makes new body parts for our bikes too....check em out if you haven't already. http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/yamaz/FZ6001985-88.htm
  7. You have to wonder what these people who are making the commercials are smoking sometimes... because I want some of THAT!
  8. That was me. No it wasn't. Maybe it was.
  9. I just wasn't happy with how my signals and brake lights were working, they weren't as bright as I thought they should have been. I tested voltage at the wires and everything read around 12v when on but I guess it wasn't feeding enough amps to the lights for them to work! SO, I hooked up some relays that activate when the wires get power so they're nice and bright now!
  10. Nice work! That zinc primer is nasty stuff but works awesome. Must be nice having a big workshop to do the work in!
  11. More body prep work! This is easily the most time consuming thing about painting. Just about finished....just need a final sanding, primer, then it's time for the colour! (black)
  12. I'm keeping everyone in suspense until they get back from the powder coaters.... it's more fun this way! lol
  13. How's the weather over there? I've been complaining about the snow for at least a month here now.... hahah
  14. Hi Jeremy! I'm Ryan. This will be a good start, and probably finish for you regarding all the information you could ever want or need to know about the top end of your engine, and a few other things! Fairing repairs included...which I'm working on now! Welcome to the site! I myself am a newbie rider and I also picked up an FZ600 as my very first bike. A lot of power for a learner if you ask me...definitely have to remind myself to slow down often when I'm on it. The snow does a good job of keeping me off the streets in the winter up here though.... I did a complete top end rebuild, along with the carbs, in about a month, started mid-December and it's already back in and running. Was my first ever rebuild and I did it from start to finish by myself. I got lucky finding this place and meeting some awesome people who were willing to offer advice when I needed it (and it was often! lol) and I managed to get the engine back in and fired up no problem! My issue was a stripped bolt hole and burning oil... Be careful though, it seems like once you start replacing one thing, you want to do the next, and the next, and the next.....haha Like sniff said, check the shock setting, it's variable, same with the fronts, you can add air to the front and up the PSI to increase stiffness.
  15. Good info thanks for that Flip! Yamaha dealer's gonna mount and balance for $15 a tire... pretty good deal. I've been dealing with the owner (Trevor McKee) each time I've been there and he's been a pleasure to deal with! Thanks!! lol That leak is all fixed up now, JB Weld held up, we'll see how it holds up under higher pressure when the RPM's climb come springtime.... Rifle is a 300 win mag, had a real nice kick to it! I actually ended up selling that rifle to help fund purchasing my bike, otherwise I never would have got it... glad I did though. The bike is amazing. Here's my 2nd go at the bodywork... after notching the cracks with a dremel I filled them with ABS glue and let it dry (abs glue is pretty much abs mixed with acetone). I filled it so it was almost level, then got the files out and filed them down, and covered with body filler. Then, I filed that! Next will be some spot putty and then lots of sanding. Some high fill primer, more sanding and then I will hit it with some colour (black) Fiberglassed the shit out of the back of this piece so it will never crack again!!
  16. It would probably seem less like spam if you didn't post the URL to the place you work for in yoru very first introduction post.... just sayin' Welcome...if you're not a spammer, though!
  17. hello mr new to this forum
  18. Welcome to the forums from over in Canada!
  19. Thanks man! Still more to do...
  20. "original white" is one of the poll options.... could be that one....
  21. hahah Well I can always add a gold pinstripe later on if I want... I think if I had a black frame, gold rims would have worked perfect, but too much silver for the gold to look good enough for me to be happy with it, on my bike that is. On an all black bike...they look sexy though!
  22. Ahh the snow is killing me!! haha But there is still work to be done so it's not a huge deal... yet... definitely glad I'm doing all of this over winter and not summer! Rims are at the powder coaters right now.... he had no gold in stock (must have been a sign) so I am going with gloss black, which I pretty much was going to get all along anyway! They should be ready early next week, got my new rubber in today, now just have to put them all together, and finish up this bodywork and paint!
  23. Free tools? I won't say no to that! lol Yeah obviously tape off what I don't want powder on... they should have the smarts to not powder inside the axle shafts but I'll be sure to let them know to avoid putting powder coat there! I've made up my mind on what colour I'm going for.... there was never really any doubt but I just liked the gold a lot too.
