  1. Glad you're ok and the bike has survived! Welcome to the forums!
  2. Well, are you getting spark? Fuel? *edit, nevermind... I see it won't even turn over. Is it hydrolocked? I know my engine was having a hell of a time trying to turn over when there was gas in the engine.... oh. Wait... nevermind. If you have the sparkplugs out, that shouldn't be a problem. Carry on then...sorry I can't help.
  3. Ok will try that out. Got a bunch on the outside of the valve cover...kept the inside pretty clean but while I was trying to get it in place the gasket maker was all over my hands and then went all over the cover!
  4. Saw that the other day on the youtube front page...pretty hilarious looking!
  5. And he's GONE!!! lolol
  6. It was harder to get it in, I shouldn't have used so much permatex on it, it made a mess.... :| Any trick to cleaning it up? Rubbing alcohol? Good news, went for a ride, looks like my leak is gone!
  7. Valve cover gasket changed! Took me about an hour and a half...was tricky getting the cover in and out without removing the engine but it's definitely doable! Waiting a bit for the black gasket maker to cure before I start her up to check for leaks.... keeping my fingers crossed until then.
  8. I can say from my experience (which is little) and the video, that hitting the front brake while turning stands the bike up as well.
  9. Got my valve cover gasket in today, now I can fix my slow oil leak! Woo hoo!
  10. Thanks for the advice guys, will definitely take it to heart! Don't want to hurt myself. Campaman - I hear ya, but don't get the wrong impression about me, I am fairly safe and take precautions for the most part. It's just that I only posted those videos because my regular driving isn't really that...interesting. No point in posting a video of me driving in a straight line, so while it may look like I'm reckless, you're just getting a very small view into my riding. I do appreciate the concern though, no one wants to get hurt out there! DT- That's what happened, after I hit the brake, all I could see was a forest and a telephone pole coming right at me, I'll admit I panicked for a second but I said fuck it, can't stop, ride through it you can make it....looked at the road, kept the bike upright and rode off.... for sure got lucky, but I'm starting to learn my limitations now and it's all new to me! Just glad I didn't wreck it.
  11. I learned the hard way today....don't touch the front brake while you're already turning. I took a last second left hand turn, was going a little too quick, hit the brake just slightly and lost control....wheel started wobbling and I was headed straight for some trees and a power pole. I didn't panic, kept the bike upright, and calmly road off...could have been much, MUCH worse. I will learn from this mistake! I caught it on camera so you can either laugh at me, or be relieved I didn't plow into the trees and hurt myself (or my bike)! Next time, apart from planning my turns a little better, I'll lean more instead of braking, probably have a better outcome than this!

    That's an awesome idea.
  13. Cheapest one I found on ebay for the FZ600 was $60+$36 shipping...so $96 (USD).. but I found an FZR400 one for $45 so I'm going to pick it up and try it out! There was one listing on there that had both FZ600 and FZR400 in the title so I assumed it would fit....but I don't like to assume.
  14. Welcome Adam! I'm Ryan from Canada!
  15. I'm looking at a new windscreen for my 1986 FZ600 - cheapest I can find is $100 and I'm not paying that for a $900 bike....I can live with the crack, but, there are much cheaper windscreens for the 1986 FZR400 (which look identical to the FZ600 of the same year) - but I'm not 100% sure if it'll fit. So question: Will the windscreen from a 1986 FZR400 fit a 1986 FZ600? *I think I posted this in the wrong section.... sorry mods! Move it if you need to please!
  16. Damn only $22 for the kit too! I just paid $12 for the ONE gasket from the Yamaha dealership... haven't opened it yet though. Thanks man!
  17. Alright, everythings back together, tank is in, gas is filled, no leaks, starts up, and I can shut it off permanently now if needed, woo! Mission success.
  18. Thanks for the offer! Yeah I'll try that rubber piece out first maybe.. it's cheap enough...but for now I stuck in a secondary shut-off valve to be certain no gas can get through when it's off. Should come in handy for when I winterize it and want to run the gas out of the carbs. Secondary Fuel Cutoff Valve - Yamaha FZ600 by feliks.ca, on Flickr
  19. Actually, I found a non-vacuum assist petcock that I may pick up....plus it has on, reserve, and off. Off is a good thing to have.
  20. This is what I need! Apparently I can't post an ebay link...but here's the pic:
