Thanks buddy, I have heard of GS before on my travels...tyres seems so simple but could mean the difference between a great ride or a teeth chattering nervous one

Surely...and this is me speculating here...but if the number is visable..u have the v5 form...then a (what is now) standard vin plate in aluminium would be acceptable...as long as you have it paperworked (I.e can be traced via a garage) then it has to be legel...otherwise all those cars recovered where the vin has been ground off couldnt be further identified. ..good luck matey

Remember the okd school trick of laying a faintly going over ur mates notes written on a previous piece of paper on pad? Try laying a thin pieve of paper and doing the same...either that or modelling clay...push into every crevice lay flat and dry...then go over lightly with a pencil and paper...childish bust has worked in the past

Hey guys, just wondering (as I know many of you have cruisers/had xvs 125s before), im gonna need new tyres for by bike fairly soon...are there any recommendations. Reason why I as is I had a suzuki marauder which was very very twitchy going round corners when wet (dont help that I weigh as much as a puppy with gas ) but made for a very nervous ride..especially round surrey where I live.

Cheers buddy, knocking is mainly when riding but can still hear it when reving up. Checked plugs...slight oily deposits on one...slight soot on the other..but havent delved deep yet...definitely will check the manifold and tappets. Its a beautiful bike and want it back to tip top order as will be doing alot of miles after eight weeks. Will keep u posted with pics

Thanks DT, I will post in the correct place next time well I have a mech mate giving me a hand with this and other things the bike needs. Just wanted to make sure all the figures are right (inc timing). We did a compression test on it yest, was coming up between 120-145...it was only a suspicion as theres a knocking coming from the front end...and as ive always worked on cars (army landrovers and 4 tonners) this is new territory for me..as well as forums. Thanks for the advice mate
  24. Remelad replied to Remelad's post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop

Good morning norcot, thanks for the advice mate. Its been many years since ive been on a forum other than the Facebook type things so etiquette I need to brush up on. As for the manual...I was just wondering if anyone knew where to get a ligit copy...cos I dont want to pay £15 for something that was basically useless (wrong size eng...or fake) Thanks for the heads up
