  1. Thisevent is organised by the Sheffield council, it is on The Moor in the centre of Sheffield, there will be classic bikes of all ages, plus entertainment, also something for the kids to do so bring them along too !! It starts at 11.30am and runs to 4pm. See you there I hope.
  2. The Spa Hotel in Saltburn by the Sea is a biker friendly hotel they even suggested we could use the back car park which is more secure and said they could give us rooms overlooking the bikes too, can't fault them. Cheers Ray.
  3. Name: Yamaha TDM 900 (2013) Date Added: 03 July 2013 - 06:18 PM Owner: greasemonkey62 Short Description: A 900cc twin but with a 275 degree crank offset which makes it run like a V twin with huge ammounts of torque, and as the engine is fitted low and central makes for a really easy to handle bike that flips from side to side very easily, a great ride. 4. cheers all, been a great few days for bikers, make hay while the sun tries to shine.
  5. Hi all I have just joined this club after getting a Yamaha TDM 900 its a great bike with bags of torque so that means fewer gear changes, and as the engine is a parallel twin with the crank set at 270 degrees it sounds and runs similar to a V twin so the engine weight is central making it handle soooo easily, the only problem I have with it is something to do with an air intake flap that makes for jerky running at small throttle openings, something that was sorted in 2007 by remapping by all accounts but mine is a 2012 model ? It is manageable with care though apart from that its a superb ride, my other bike is a 1962 AJS 650cc twin great fun to ride. Is there a Yamaha club in Sheffield? I am a member of the B.M.P.S. bike club we meet every 2nd and 4th monday at 9pm at the civil service club on green lane, ecclesfield, sheffield S359WY, all bikers are very welcome Happy biking all, cheers Ray.
  6. That sounds something like the problem, but the article says the bikes were remapped in 2007 and mine is a 2012 bike ?? Thanks for the information much appreciated. Cheers Ray.

This is my new baby, a 900cc parallel twin but the crank is set up at 270 degrees so it fires and runs like a v twin, clever these nips aint they, it has soooo much torque it does not need numerous gear changing to keep up a good rate of speed also the weight is very central and fairly low down so it handle like a dream and is very very easy to ride, the only thing i didn't like was the short screen so I got the next size up for better wind protection, there is another one higher than that too so plenty of choices.

I have just traded this for the Yamaha I have now a very nice bike but I wanted a bike that didn't rev so high now, I bought on he bay over 2 years ago but got 500 quid more than I had paid for it as I traded it in, BARGAIN, I bought it of a guy who had wanted to relive his biking days again but it didn't work out as it was hoped I think he was too nervous on it as I bought it with less than 5000 miles on the clock when it was five years old.

This is a clearer picture of my Velocette above, as the only photo I have of it is blurred I hope it is still alive, I sold it then for 250 quid which was a good price at the time, they fetch about 7500 quid now !!

Me and my as then girlfriend later to be my wife 40th anniversary in september too !! as you can see its christmas and we have just got back home at my parents after a freezing cold ride out, how I managed with goggles and a leather face mask I will never know.

I still have this bike but only use on dry days as at 51 years old needs treating with care, the exhaust is very loud similar to the Norton twins so no creeping around quietly on this bike as you can hear it half a mile away, I have converted to 12 volt though with a Boyers kit so the lights are as good as any new bike and it starts easier now too. My black beauty.

My younger brother on my bike again ! that was a 1960 ? AJS model 8 lightweight a 350 cc single potter that I used to thrash on its limit most of the time in the mid 60's and it never broke down once all round another great bike but it had 6 volt lighting, good job I ate plenty of carrots !! My other brothers James Captain is in the foreground fairly quick at that time for a 200cc bike.

Another great but slow bike bang it in top gear and it could stay there forever, also it handled so well too but not much power to test the frame, but really nice to ride.

this was taken of my superb velo in the late 60's it handled like a dream, I actually raced it at Cadwell Park I rode it there and back, if i had fallen off I have no idea how I would have gotten us both back home !!! the bantam was my brothers, the kids are younger brother and two sisters plus a neighbour.
  15. Name: Yamaha TDM 900 (2013) Date Added: 11 June 2013 - 08:20 PM Owner: greasemonkey62 Short Description: The TDM is a parallel twin but with a 270 degree crank set up so it fires similar to a V twin, as the engine is slim and low down all the weight is central so it flips from side to side with ease, its not a high reving bike but has HUGE ammounts of torque so frequent gear swapping is not needed, its a fantastic ride and on youtube one went from 0 to 100mph in 7 seconds so its no slouch but again its soooo easy to ride. 16. The B.M.P.S. hold their free annual bike show on the 12th august starting around 6pm (note bikes tend to be arriving until 8pm so stay a while) and running until 10.30pm ish. There will be the usual bar and music outside, plus a tea and coffee counter also selling burgers and sausage sarnies, there will be five prizes issued to five different class/age of machines as there will be new and classic bikes (and bikers) there as well as the green meanie wheelie machine where people can have a go on a real 1000cc kawasaki at wheelies in perfect safety, we do support three physically and mentally handicapped childrens homes so we hope you will support us in this by buying a raffle ticket or three. The venue for this is at the Civil Service Club on Green Lane, Ecclesfield, Sheffield S359WY, motorcycles will be parking inside the grounds, but cars will have to park on the surrounding roads. See you there cheers Ray.
  17. Thanks for that but the idle is set correctly, and its not in the wrong gear there is just no response from small throttle openings its as though the throttle is still closed with the engine still on run down. When the throttle is opened further it seems to wake up but it is then at too high a speed for non sweaty tight cornering. Cheers Ray.
  18. Hiya I am having problems when going around tight corners where a small trickle throttle opening is needed, it does not work unless I open it a bit more but this then causes the bike to jerk forward at too high a speed, I have also had the engine stop when slowing to a T junction and pulling the clutch in with the throttle closed but still in gear, the bike restarts ok but I have no idea why it should stop. I did wonder if the spark was weak at slow engine speeds but wanted some feedback before taking things apart. The bike is a TDM 900. Cheers Ray.
  19. Hi all I am a new member having just bought a TDM900, what a bike ! Just what I wanted not so high Erving as theSuzuki I had and it has sooooo much torque that gear changes are much less frequent and the weight is so central that it handles like a dream and flips from side topside with no effort, what a bike. Cheers all, Ray .
