Something going on with the choke here..pull it out and revs drop..push it in and revs go thru the roof. This is from cold startup.

New spark plug might also help. After standing awhile I find priming it with couple of kicks (fuel on, choke out and ignition off) also helps.

Been getting steadily worse now its revving high all the time. Applied some lubricant to the cable but hasn`t made much difference. Next step is to replace the cable but could there be a problem with the slide sticking in the carb?

I believe in always putting a block of wood or something between the underside of the mudguard and the tyre when strapping a bike down. Learned the hard way when I had this hassle with a CR250 as it was always transported on a trailer...sometimes long distances and with heavy duty ratchet straps. Don`t think the seals can take that kind of pressure for too long.

Top tip...missing race was sitting stuck inside the stem...now I know where to find the little buggers that go missing.

What is with these Hondas?..they rattle my teeth loose..even the speedo needle has broken in two since I`ve had it. Getting on a Yamaha afterwards is like getting into a Rolls Royce. Do they need more damping around the engine?

Just resprayed my latest XT500 fuel tank. Very happy..she gonna look good. Still sum pinstriping to come.

Yup..but good fuel cons. is also the order of the day these days..XL can do 30km/L ridden nicely. That`s better than lotta modern scooters.

If you want to know how much quicker a DT175 is compared to XL185 you must own both. Although its 2 stroke vs 4 stroke its still amazing how much quicker the DT is...runs rings around the XL. Won`t get the good fuel consumption though.

New race did not fit properly so will replace the set with 22 as per the manual.

I have not been able to get a manual and need settings for the carb. Fuel lines were blocked so opened carb and cleaned it. There is a set screw inside which I cannot remember what setting it was on. Also airscrew..where is it and what`s its factory setting. Can anyone assist me?

I`ve ordered another ball (they`re only ZAR2,00) and if it goes in nicely I`ll leave it there. The action when turning is not smooth so will check it with 23 balls in.

doesnt make sense..the bottom ball bearings pack nice and tight together..why would the top have a gap?

Hello..anybody reading this?. This is holding me up. Getting no replies so going to stick another bearing in there and see how it is.

Nothing fancy, just applied lotta elbow grease with sandpaper (my right arm is now twice as big as my left), then 2 coats primer and again light sanding before topcoat.

Ok I`m confused..the manual indicates 22 balls on the top yoke but with 22 in it looks like one still missing. I`m sure it needs another one..can it be an error in the manual?

Did some painting today. Looking forward to getting it back together again.

Thanks YPVS..that is a scary bulletin. These parts will cost arm and a leg. WIll have to do a South African "boer maak a plan" repair.
