  1. Put some fuel in..so far no leaking..will keep an eye on it.
  2. Eesh..So welding it also wont help. Will see tomorrow otherwise will have to investigate how I can do the lining option. Strange no leaks before I took a electric wire brush to it.,must have poked a hole.
  3. Bit late seeing your replies..I`ve applied epoxy steel...box says can repair leaks..although fuel might be a problem. I`ll keep you posted..will allow to dry overnight and test tmorow.
  4. Damn..put some fuel in after painting tank..fuel pouring out of small hole in tank seam. Will try sealing with pratley steel quickset glue. Means removing paint in that area..@#$%.
  5. Really cant see wear on the valve. Tried bending the flange down to change float level slightly. Will see if it makes a difference.
  6. Ok..well battery in place..will be visiting a guy over the weekend who has rebuilt 2 XT250`s among others to help me.
  7. By the way Airhead..if the regulator looks after the headlight..and the headlight has blown..surely that means the regulator must be faulty..or does the battery make a difference to the headlight?..or may be a short somewhere.
  8. I know somebody who has one..will take the bike there and he can teach me how to use it.
  9. Can this be checked without a multimeter? May be time I Invested in one.
  10. ok saw that fuse..its ok...problem is somewhere else.
  11. Ok wired up battery..neutral & 2 stroke lights as well as hooter working off battery. this is regulator on 1980 bike. this is the 1979 bike but now all the indicators completely dead..even idiot light.. the bulbs look ok..where do I check?
  12. ok..have a good battery from second bike so just need to steal some wiring as well to get it on.
  13. Lost out on first one. Would love to get this as its already got the front end I want...but its 900km away...damn.
  14. If not that then a short somewhere. How does one go about finding a short?
  15. Didnt realise if I remove pic from Imageshack its gone here. So putting it back.
  16. It has the steel fender underneath. Still need another tailight..I have a pirate tailight assembly..just need to make a bracket for it..then i can get that angle better. Still need to wire up the rear end lights, wiring for battery and replace that regulator. Stole the mirrors off the other bike as well. Will need to get a set sometime.
  17. Updated pic. Thanks to mostly Airhead and others for plenty of help to get me this far..sorry I`m not too hot as a mechanic but I`m learning fast. Right now she`s just blowing bulbs and some clutch slippage but starting easy and running well. (stole the other bike`s reg no for road use) Also stole speedo gauge and rear tailight assembly to get her looking road legal. I plan to make a custom tailight bracket as you can see the angle not too good with the IT fender and seat. Another pic showing second one resprayed tank. She was complete but has a carb issue so far. Need to get it done for roadworthy as she has papers. both bikes
  18. Ok..I`ve seen this sitting there. Do you think they will be the same on 79 and 80 models?
  19. Will do..carb is off again..will strip it tmorow.
  20. Are you talking about taking clutch cover off for full mechanism adjustment? Will have to read up on that.
  21. Don`t see a regulator on Yambits..only a rectifier..also not in parts book, although I do see it on the circuit diagram. Can you tell me what`s the difference between the two and what does this thing look like..where does it sit?
  22. So if no battery connected it puts bulbs at risk of blowing?
