Heartbreaking mate. I'm paranoid about my bike. Even chain it when it's locked up. But I'm from the east end! My advice would be the same as Dave. I'll keep my eye out down my way for it.
  2. Mines a bit of a rust bucket but I put it down to past owners who didn't take care of it. My winter plan is to get rid of the rust or replace bits that need it then repaint the frame (where needed) and acf50 the thing thing within an inch of it's life. Should sort it nicely. Apart from that I love my wee Dragstar. Then again mine's barely touched 9.5k so far.

I've managed to get mine to just under 70 but as the guys have said the wind was in my favour and I was going down hill. It's a cruiser, take your time and enjoy the ride. If it's too slow sit the test and move up to a bigger bike.

Hey Trodd, Welcome mate. With your background I don't think you'll have any problems getting the bike running.
  5. Ouch!!! That boys arms shouldn't be bending that way.

Hey Tim. Welcome to the club.
  7. http://images.carphonewarehouse.com/is/image/cpw/accessories/large/SAM-HS3000-BLUETOOTH__1 I use this. Keep the levels lowish and you can still hear around you. Been great for me for the last year. I had an LG tone before that. Was even better with controlls that sat round your neck. Expensive though.

There's a few guys on here that have gone the bobber route. Sure they can give you the advice you want. I like my xvs 125 kitted out bigger not smaller. That's how I'm headed. Not bothered on the loss of speed.

    Hey Murat. Welcome mate.
  10. They'd find me dead (but happy) in a few days!

Keep looking you'll find a good one. I went to see 4 bikes before I got my wee 125. Some were in a right mess and like that one the pics were old or shot to hide all the buggered bits. Ended up finding mine in a barn with horses & covered in straw!
  13. Hi Joe. Welcome mate.

Great first bike mate. Got mine a little while ago and still love it. Don't tell the wife. Just show up with it one day....that's what I did with my old Suzuki. The peace and quite for the days she wasn't talking to me were bliss. I'd heartedly recommendit. They might not let you do the CBT on it due to the big turning circle. Heard that from a few XVS owners before.
  16. Hey buddy. Welcome to the club. The guys here are really helpful. Helped sort me and my bike out a few times. Good luck with the repairs.

I can't even make the time for a ride to Loch Lomond! You're making me jealous man. That looks great.
  19. Thanks. Feels good to do these things and actually get the damn things to work. Bike still going fine. Now back to the customising. Thinking of stealing the colours from the new indian (red & cream. Love that classic look and I think my wee 125 will sport it nicely. http://www.cycleworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/012_Vintage-IndianRedIvory-static01.jpg
  20. I bodged my panniers to get rid of the throw over look. A steel plate on the inside and back, riveted together then bolted onto the the bike as per a normal bag. Uses a couple of extra strong washers as well to help the job. Ended up stuck solid and looks good if I say so myself.

Wow! 5 and on his first bike. I was in my 30's when I got mine. Well done and welcome to the club.
  24. Hey Altum. Great choice of first bike. Got one myself. You'll learn as you go along. A bike is a learning curve in itself. I've had to teach myself (with a little help from the lovely folk on her) to make basic repairs and bodge customs, just see my last post just fixed it last night. Enjoy the wheels and welcome.
  25. The headlight on a 125 is bolted on from the bottom. Those say they are side mounted so you'd need to make a bracket for it. Shouldn't be too hard. Not sure of the black though. I like my chrome original with a visor. Good luck with the customising.
