I can find a fair few people doing alterations locally, just wondered if anyone had used any, so wandsworth might be a bit out of the way but thanks anyway - gonna need to sort out the saggy arse on the trousers at some point

Having shelled out some really hard earned cash, a lot of it, on leathers I was wondering what the best way to clean them was? Are they dry clean only or can you do them at home? I mean the outside can be wiped down easy enough but after a couple of weeks daily use, they cant be that err ... hygenic How often do you get them cleaned? Also can anyone recommend any leather alteration people in surrey (Woking way) as I made them fatal error of buyinbg new while losing a little weight?

New to all this and love being in the nodding club so always do it (also slightly less to scooters and learners definitely not pizza bikes), except when you go through passport control on the A3 and enter the land called London where it seems no-one nods, possibly as you'll have a neck ache in ten minutes coz there is millions of bikes

I have one of those Bluetooth devices, can control my iPhone with hands free dialing, listen to music, built in radio and again when in close traffic of local riding can be very distracting and pretty dodgy, but worst of all it has a full duplex rider to wife communication which is the worst kind of distraction and can in itself cause serious injury if you happen to accidentally pass comment on a random pedestrians sexy touche in error thinking your saying it under your breath

LOL i still find it amusing when doing 60mph+ you get the occasional bug actually knocking to get in, either that or its just broken every bug bone in its body

I've passed mine a couple of weeks ago so know how you're feeling right now. The best advice has already been given: relax, ride normally, observe the road rules as you have been, the examiner is another biker and is not out to trip you up, ride in a safe manner and you will be fine! Above all enjoy it - with your skill and a little luck you'll only ever do it once Good luck from me!

Whats irritating is the boots are actually marked 'waterproof' by Dianese on the fastenings Still you live and learn, and yes the pinloc earned its money today for me! I have a pair of seal skinz but didnt think i'll need them with such a good pair of boots

I nearly forgot, I was soo cold I went in to the services near Theale and pulled up behind another biker at the entrance when parking. He commented 'nice bike m8' and as i'm getting used to it I acknowledged him and went to buy a coffee and get warm quick. When I came out I only then realised but he was also riding .... an XJ6 Diversion His was older but ..... he had heated grips, scott oiler, full tank bag, michelin pilots and .... an arrow exhaust system which sounded sweet!!! He actually made sure he started it before i left just so he could make me jeleous (which he succeeded)

Well I have only don 900 miles since passing my test and the last few days have been real nice with the weather being sunny. I love being part of the 'nodding' club but no-one to nod to today when I had to make a 2 hour round trip from Byfleet to Newbury in the worst that it could throw down- on the M4 What can I say, the Ixon clothing kept my clothes dry and feeling a little warmer , the Dianese boots at £100+ were NOT waterproof , my Racer gloves at £100+ were waterproof .... for the 1st hour , the Bluetronics bluetooth comms got soaked and gave up after 30 minutes so no more tunes on the m/way but I gained a little confidence in riding in the wet even if the cars thought i was mad doing 10mph on roundabouts It got so bad on the M4 that I came off and took the 'A' road at a slower pace and no chance of being run off at the next junction by a late turner Its not something i want to do again in a hurry, especially when looking at the state of the bike when I got home, but nothing a quick wipe down didnt cure and on with the cover I was in J&S the other day and tried on some Alpinestars Toucan's and they felt the business - does anyone else own a [air and if so are they really waterproof?
  16. Alas I had already eaten a 'small' cod and chips which was the size of a 4 x 4, so upon reaching Mick's all I could take was a cup of tea but I was impressed by the menu so will be returning for sure ! Taking the suspension all the way just felt stable when she got on the bike and not back heavy, but I cant wait to persuade her to get a license
  17. Having not long passed my test, we (the wife and I) decided to go for a ride out to the south coast. I've a XJ6 'divvie' with touring kit and as the bike juddered on the front I already know that I needed to stiffen the suspension to counteract the extra weight - i mean ballast - i mean balance - OH damn it sorry luv you know what I mean, so i pumped the rear suspension right round to No.7 and it seemed okay to ride Q.1. Is the suspension set on No.7 safe to ride with a pillion as I'm not sure as its all new to me? Now on to the motorway and all was good. I'm still running in so kept it to about 5800 - 6000 revs .... most of the time. Which was fine as I still kept it to around 65-70 mph average and she's never really been on the back for any amount of time, she was happy with that too. When I put it up to 70, about 7000 revs I got a real vibration through the left foot peg. Q.2. Is this vibration normal? Wind --- not mine, the less scary one that blows you across the road! How on earth do you 'faster' riders cope with the wind at 65mph + ? Gosh (thats a friendly expleteive) I thought when blown from position 2 to position 1 at 70 mph, so I just relaxed, tucked in low and that seemed to do the trick but still wary ! SWMBO then complained I left her exposed to the wind, you cant win can you Lastly, the dreaded back pain which I sure is caused by me tensing up, but it does get annoying. I think I'm doing it right but flapping me arms like a chicken quickly then letting them loose on the bars and gripping the tank slightly more with my legs, only to find myself in a death grip on the bars ten minutes later after being blown across the lane again grrr. If anyones got any more tips on riding style please feel free to chip in and save my back I ended up at Portsdown Hill and got a little jealous at the bikes already there, particularly the Ducati Diavel Carbon and the 1300's of all makes, and the R1's and the GSXR's and the... and the... and the...

55mpg atm, however i'm still 'running in' so that might change in about 300 miles
  19. Have you taken the wire off from behind the speedo, changed the exhaust and reflashed the ecu yet? If you have, then you might have the wrong tyre pressure!
  20. Its the grey with the blue wheels, and already planning a trip to new malden .....
  21. lol - helmet, gloves, comms, sat nav, touring kit, boots, leathers, love handles, buffs, wind cheaters etc etc etc I have almost everything now, reckon i'm nearly a full time infinity motorcycle staff member there always seems to be something else i could never do without
  22. Hi all, After 43 years of irregular riding around the world, I took the intro, cbt and direct access course to get my licence and passed last week at Farnborough. OMG I felt like a school child on exams all over again. I'd already treated myself to a new XJ6 Diversion F and love it , is it sad to just get on the bike and go somewhere ...because I can? If only I could now just stay away from motorcycle accessory shops lol
