  1. Ok, poor (and possibly strange) analogy, but I think you know what I'm trying to say!!
  2. How old is your xvs? My SR sits at 50 all day long, good acceleration to 55/60 and I have had 65 showing. I've not been on a proper bike long, but 20 years of being in different cars has proved that a 1l Metro will not last long at 80 doing 4k revs all day long, whereas my current 2.2l Primera is very happy doing 90 at only 2.5k revs. In short, rev the shit out of an engine and it will die! Look at rock stars in the 27 club (and Elvis!) who would probably still be here now if they paced themselves more!
  3. You got that right! Even the fastest bike has to slow down to own a tight bend!
  4. Have you noticed she's not been back on??
  5. I'm just glad I didn't search lube rubber seal!!
  6. Ha ha! I wasn't sure if I would need to lightly oil the rubber seals, so I innocently googled lubricate and rubber. How was I to know that's what would come up?????
  7. I was just thinking not heard anything for a couple of weeks! Glad he's coming out the other side now. Must be a huge relief for you. My dog is only just coming up to a year old and so far other than injections the only thing he's had to see the vet for is to have his knackers removed! Though if he eats anymore of my bloody slippers I'll have his nashers removed as well!
  8. Welcome Yasmin You're right - we've all got to start somewhere. It took me 5 years to kill my 50cc and started again just a few months ago on a 'proper' bike - only getting away with it cos the missus thinks I'm going through a mid life crisis and its cheaper than recreational substances or other women! Do you have a licence yet or are you another member of the 'L' plate gang??
  9. Yeah bearings - I was searching the Internet...... Not sure what made me think of bushes!!
  10. Cheers mate. Might just do that. I've got someone coming back to me on a price for making one as the bit I need isn't made any more! How much would you want for the whole wheel (disc)? I assume the other wheel is a front not a rear?
  11. Cheers. Does that mean renewing the bushes?
  12. Cheers Tommy I can turn it with my fingers easily so think should be ok. I will fit the new gear at the same time as there is some brass filings inside the unit itself.
  13. I'm assuming that if I get it out, it can't go back together without refitting it? I've overlooked my cars MOT (booked for Monday) and have no other mode of transport so I'd have to wait for the new part first if it can't go back together. Cheers
  14. My wife doesn't understand bikes! I taught her to drive about 7 yrs ago and I got a foot in the door with a twist and go.... took me over 6 years to kill it beyond repair and finally got back onto a proper bike this March! The plan is that I take my theory, mod 1 and mod 2 by this time next year but with 2 kids etc etc finances may not let me!!!
  15. Cheers for that. I had hoped it might be a washer! It was getting dark when I had the wheel off and I had to put it back on for the morning. Hopefully it'll stay dry enough to have a go tomorrow afternoon.
  16. I know it's only a speedo but without a fuel gauge I know by how many miles I've done when to fill up before I go into reserve.
  17. No - that's the bit I just bought and don't actually need! I should have removed and inspected mine first. It's the lugs marked 'a' that have broken off.
  18. My speedo stopped working recently so I bought a speedo drive unit, assuming this would be the offending part. When I came to replace it last night, it's actually the lugs inside the wheel hub that have sheared off. I can't see if it is a seperate ring or part of the hub and can't find anything online either. Does anyone know it is a washer/ring behind a rubber seal and if so, do you know what it is called? If rather not have to buy a new wheel and spend more time fixing it than necessary!
  19. Ok, so not ROFLMAO funny, but I did groan/smile when I heard it! (Must try harder)
