  1. Hello, I'm rebuilding my 1972 Yamaha 100 LS3. I've had the frame painted and the painted parts repainted. I'll post some pics at some point. I'm putting the electrics back together and I'm coming up with a problem with the front indicators. The indicators are single wire and as the fork ears have been freshly painted, I don't know how to earth the indicators so they'll work? The rear ones are fine because they mount to the frame and the so the bolt thread allows the indicator to earth. Do I need to scratch the fork ear so that the indicator will make contact with the metal and earth? or is there a better way. I just didn't want to scratch my beautiful fork ears unless it was necessary. Thanks.
  2. Hi there. The 1972 LS3 100 muffler assembly is part number 336-14710-00, but I cant find that anywhere. The '75 RS100 muffler assembly is 463-14710-10 or 463-14710-50 I've been able to work out from the part diagram that they both use the same muffler joint to connect the muffler to the exhaust pipe, so I know they are the same diameter..they also both use the identical muffler stay (336-14771-00) they also look very similar, but not identical. I was hoping that someone with a RS100 muffler could measure it up for me so I can confirm that it will fit. I guess i need the distance from the front bolt to the first bolt that connects to the muffler stay. Also, I guess the distance to the stopper at the back. or, I wonder if there are any LS3 mufflers available? The reason I'm looking for one is that I'm finding it very difficult to clean my old one. I've removed the silencer, and pulled out all the old packing. But I don't really see a way to repack the muffler? .. it's not like there are rivets or screws, in fact the muffler is kind of a sealed unit? ... how is the packing replaced in these things? .. also.. sorry one more question, what is a good practice to decoke the muffler? .. it's chrome so I can't really burn it off? Thanks so much for your help. Regards Steve
  3. Thanks so much for your reply. Do you know if the ls3 was known by another name in other parts of the world? Actually I'm very interested in learning more about it bit I can't find much online.
  4. Hi, This is my first post, so hello. I'd appreciate any help on a Yamaha LS3. I'm considering buying one, but there are very little details about it online. My google searching suggests that it is quite similar to the RS100, but it looks like yamaha made loads of very similar 100cc 2 strokes around that period with many different names (?) The bike im looking at is registered, and is in quite good shape, but im seeking details on parts availability. There is a manual and a parts catalog available on ebay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/YAMAHA-Parts-Manual-LS3-100cc-1972-1973-Replacement-Spares-Catalog-List-/380538313035?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item5899d9d94b&_uhb=1#ht_742wt_1029 I wonder if this would be useful? I guess my question is, can anyone tell me if the LS3 is very similar to the various other 100cc yamaha 2 strokes around that time, and if so are the parts generally interchangeable. Perhaps also could you list the other yamaha bikes I could search for to source parts. Many thanks for your help. I'll let you know if I win the bike.. it's on ebay. Oh.. actually thats a point. Could anyone suggest a vague value for such a bike. Obviously lots of factors at play for value, but im interested in a very vague ballpark number. Thank you.
