  1. I have had the odd coffee and cheesy chips at Loomies. In fact I just got back from the Wednesday bike meet.
  2. Sorry about the bike mix-up, my bad. There were so many bikes/bikers there that day and I'm getting on a bit, the memory isn't what it was .
  3. If memory serves you were riding a Virago 250. Sorry I don't think I got a pic of it. The TR1 was parked next to the Virago/Star club because it's the bike they were developed from. As for more pix:
  4. This is my TR1 at the Ace on Yamaha day.
  5. Ace corner is just off the North Circular in London. It's the site of the Ace Cafe. http://www.ace-cafe-london.com

    Well done Bippo.
  7. I'm in Basingstoke. I try to get up to the Ace once a month, time (and money) permitting. I have a daughter who lives not far from there so I kill two birds with one stone, see her and have a day at the Ace. Luckily she's into bikes as well.
  8. It's happened to me pulling away from lights on a cold morning. No shame and you recovered well
  9. I was there on Sunday. It's always a good day at the Ace Cafe but great to go up for a Yamaha day. Seeing how people customise their bikes is always a blast.

I bought a pair of thin Marmot thermal gloves from a camping/outdoor shop. I ride all year round and have suffered with the cold/numb fingertip problem but since using the thermal undergloves it's not been a problem.
  11. welcome to the family

Thanks Drewpy. Any Idea what the issues were as mine seems to be running like a dream. I'd hate to think it's going to start having problems.

I'm told this is a VERY rare bike. Can anyone confirm/correct this? [sharedmedia=garage:vehicles:952]

    Done
  15. My wife accused me of having a mid-life crisis after she bought my first 125. You'll never win that argument, they just don't seem to get it unless they ride as well.
  16. I did get this one from ebay as it happens. Paid £1 per cc. Just had it serviced today and the garage couldn't find a single thing wrong with it, it didn't even need the air filter changed . It's only done 24,500 miles in it's 31 years (and I've got the MOTs to prove it) and it's running like a dream.
  17. Got taken off my GPZ600 in January by a moron. I was filtering in slow traffic when a car in the right lane just decided it was time to change lanes. No indication just crossed right in front of me. As I picked myself up off the road he got out of his car and uttered the immortal words "Sorry mate I didn't see you." The nice young lady who stopped her car instead of running over my head replied "No you moron, you wouldn't have seen him because you didn't use your mirrors." Not all car drivers are bad. She later repeated that to a police traffic officer who happened to be passing and stopped to take details.
  18. I have a 1982 TR1, same year as your XS400, and it runs just fine on regular unleaded.
  19. In the gym today a guy comes in, sits at the arm extension (tricep) machine, hooks up 10Kg and goes hell for leather until he physically can't lift it again. Then he moves to the arm curl machine, hooks up 10Kg and goes hell for leather until he can't lift it again. Then he gets up and leaves the gym. In all he was in the gym for less than ten minutes.
  20. Hi

Bought my first Yamaha Bike, only had Kwaka's and Hondas until now. I've got a 1982 TR1 with a genuine 24,500 miles on the clock.
