Petrol proof paint or not?
I used Halfords petrol resistant lacquer on my tank. It did the job, never any problems after spilling a few drops while filling up.

2007 Triumph Speedmaster
Check the ceramic around the plug electrode. A small crack could allow the spark to 'leak out'.

The Beast Is Dead
Thanks for all the good wishes. Slice: As tempting as it might be to buy it back, the reason they said it wasn't feasibly repairable was because they couldn't source some of the bits they needed (and if a repair shop can't find them what chance would I have?) and the ones they could find were stupid money due to their rarity. I know when I was looking for a muffler the only original one I could find was in Germany and the asking price was 495 euros plus shipping. There's no way I could afford to repair it myself.

The Beast Is Dead
Thanks for the offer foamy. There's no rush, I can't get back on a bike until the brace comes off my leg.

The Beast Is Dead
Blackhat, I'm already looking for the next bike. What it is will depend on how much I get for the TR1 but I will definitely be getting another bike.

The Beast Is Dead
Airhead: You didn't miss it this is the first time I've mentioned it. Was hoping that the bike would be OK. Foamy: Your bike lost that much oil that it could possibly have spread as far as the A339 , but no, just a wet and slippery road. And yes it sucks, as you say, balls

The Beast Is Dead
Six weeks ago, in the last week of October, the Beast and I parted company at 50mph and rolled down the road separately for a while. The cast comes off my left wrist tomorrow and I still have a brace on my right knee but that's getting there. However it is with heavy heart that I report the parting of the Beast. I'm told that my beloved TR1 is not repairable. I now have to wait for the insurers to find a market value for a bike that is as rare as unicorn teeth (good luck with that one) so that they can decide what they believe it was worth.

Bikers are like Drummers
You rode a bike that was leaking oil all over the engine with smoke pouring out of the vents. Leaking so badly OVER THE HOT ENGINE that you had to buy more oil to get you home, with it still leaking. Sane is not necessarily the word I'd use to describe you.

Bikers are like Drummers
There's another thing bikers have in common with drummers. I've never met a sane one.

Tyler Kirk
That's not 'crazy maverick behaviour'. That's the lunatic behaviour of a complete f***ing twat. And no, the public road is definitely NOT the place

Loomies closing or not
Just read on the Book of the Face that two guys have taken it over and are planning to keep it open as a biker cafe. Some of the local residents were less than pleased. Apparently one fella gets woken up at 5am by bikes going there, funny I never knew it opened that early.

Cameron Carpenter's Incredible Organ
Please tell me that's a piss take. It isn't even music, just a load of jumbled sounds.

Saturday 25 October - Foamy is another year older, Loomies and Ace?
Sorry foams, have to cry off. Family thing that can't be put off. It means I won't be seeing the bike until Monday morning. Not happy, not happy at all.
