Bikes to a certain extent are trophies, collectibles, dream icons, closeted sports equipage. As long as there are many low mileage bikes for competition, selling high mileage bikes is hard. Add the multiowner and abuse by ignorance, include the high price of parts and repair. Were forks serviced, shock replaced, brakes done properly, acceptable exhaust fitted and tuned, time sitting niggles, chain and sprockets. Take a battery vent hose off or misroute, yikes. Bought a bike someone ran without a wheel bushing, sprocket bolts carved swing arm. Basically unless you know the history you have to buy low, and no return encourages lack of maintainence, As I see it.

YES. Google track day. Talk to local sport bikers. Use search on web sites. I think Sport-touring.net has track info, sure any sport bike forum will. You don't list bike or location. You sound like a track school, bikes and gear, is the the place to start. Or MSF ARC (advanced rider course) first. Joining a group gets track time around $150 day in usa. Bikes, gear requirements, tires, go up quickly. google local track.

Likelyhood corrossion or cud blocking fuel strainer, or clogged fuel valve. Or alredy checked?
  4. Alright lets not be silly, not 390 hp. Assuming cranking over, check power to coils, then check spark. Wires , plugs or poor connections check. Spark ok check fuel is wetting plugs but not flooding. This bike uses vacumn advance and petcock. check both work. Then tedious right wire right place. patience.

An FCE from Ivansperformananceproducts.com UK importer listed removes snatch and adds hp to midrange. all you really need. see yamahafz1oa.com for performance info, basically airbox, air filter, cat removal, slip on, with custom mapped pclll to get serious benefit. 07 is mostly yamaha fixed. Gearing is very tall. Going to 16 or 15 countershaft sprokets or 16-46 common.

The 06 Fazer/FZ1 has a 4 second delay in off on throttle response over 4500 rpm. Some people hardly notice off a race track. Ivansperformanceproducts.com offers FCE $200 / 300 #s which fixes and restores 10 hp in midrange. Countershaft sproket is 17 Teeth, 16 and even 15 T sprockets are popular. 17-44 change to 16-46 too. Seat may need changing. 07 Fazer/FZ1 YAMAHA remapped EFI ECU WHICH eliminates "snatch" in properly tuned bikes. FCE STILL helps but is it worth it for what it does? Your call. See yamahafz1oa.com usa for details. Changing the overly tall gearing helps low end. 01-05 carburated bikes could be hard starting, a little rough. Ivans or Dale Walker jet kits offer flawless running, with or without slip ons.

May have to rejet four into one, that vintage likely lose grunt for top end gain. Better spent on shocks or brake pads.

Visit yamahafz1oa.com (usa) several members have had track days, mod maven Lars in Denmark, Aussies, and North Americans. Weak point is rear shock but is strong enough for a change, as are springs. MAY want serious track tires if fastest class. 06 benefit Ivansperformanceproducts.com FCE 07 not required does help.

Hagon? IN usa FZ1 Gen1 01-05 can be revalved to an excellent shock for $ 400 usd resprung. Have to reseach length, ends, room for reservoir. Check ebay, racer site. Found on fz6 site an r6 shock with parallel resrvoir fits with minor mods, but is lower. Probably have to haunt dealers for shock right length and mounts.

Might do better with Bandit 1250, doubt either retro better than ZRX1200.
