im lost thats a bit different to mine and i havnt a baldy what im meant to be lookin at..if i remember right when i changed my handlebars i adjusted the rev play on the throttle would this have anything to do with it? reason why i say this is then i just looked at the pully on the pump it was tight asif was stuck on a bit but when ive just put the throttle cable to how it was previously u could see it adjust on the pump also. if im thinking right it is pumping constanty (too much).. plz to god let this be it!!??!! otherwise yea i didnt have a clue what i was looking for allignment also started it up after and still cant believe how much crisper she sounds after the work done to p/v and new piston. just want to no why shes guzzling the 2t .suppose its not so bad as im running in new parts or is it??

is silkoline good? was recommended at bike shop for mx 2t.. defo dont need to do a little premix as i no its getting the oil ok.

yea cheers for that fella..hopefully going to book it in with yamaha next week as i really want to keep the pump in use as its intended., i no theres a way of adjusting it i just dont have a clue how! defo pumping out to much as what it should tho.

As some may no i had to rebuild the topend of my dt again. as my powervalve needed work doing (skimmed) to match the bore, so all is well no leaks fires up alot better, and sounds good before when i started it on the choke it would be grumpy now it idles highiesh on choke like is should. really happy with the way shes rideing plenty of power but havnt wound her out yet . Have hit power ok just takeing it easy..How long u think the proccess of running in a rebuilt topend takes.. Sure its only piston and rings??? Well and a rebore! So my main question is ive done just say 100 mile and the fecker is eating 2 stroke. going down nearly as quick as my fuel were will i start to check any way of adjusting it?? Its on silkoline comp2t at present. What if i disconnected it and ran a premix or is that a bad idea?? As i understand that the pump is working with the throttle split in 2 ,to the carb so will in theory be sending the right amount of oil at different rpm.. please correct me?? And if i run a premix what will it be for an all rounder because ive a habbit of letting her rip as well as a bit of enduro slow climbs and all (low rpms )if you get me Ps.. is my carb done?
well folks how are you all.?.. another dilema here ..after up jettin the bike giving it a good service and a clean, new plug ,oil change) cleaned filter (oiled up) lots of new bolts screws replaced as others was rusty lookin. new power valve cables! -up-jetted to 230 she ran very hot but very lively so i assume shes on the lean side. -got hot after 4-6 mile. -ran like a charm at topend. -souded grumpy on idle (like a 4 banger) -coming to slow down throught gears and she starts revving up high. -checked plug and its blacker than soot. so correct me if im wrong it ran lean?? too much fuel-oil? so got down to look at the air mixture screw to see if i could get it. got a flat head and it was stuck in solid tight. so long story short- rounded it off like an ejit took carb off made even more of a mess ,sprayed it with wd40)(all had )..to try penetrate it. went back 20 minuets later try again just makeing it far worse so i let it be with the hammer and flat head lol.. so... look at the carb and think yea i could slice it down with a dremel cutter may look a messy but will get job done went got a lend of 1 got home looked closer and thought nah i aint risking it! reason why is it looks as if the mixture scew is all the way down. and i cudnt get far enuff to the screw. so any one have any ideas comments- suggestions?? all welcome .new carb on flea bay now well second hand. at a price of 65 plus pap. money money money----patients patients patients lol all getting very low lol cheers chaps..

can you just get a re bottom end instead just to be safe? i saw a few nocking about complete engine going for 300 and thats the re been think off picking one up meself just to be safe and incase these parts go scares lol

any tips on cleaning a dt 125 engine downpipe ect?
anyone tell me what they use to clean there 2t engines and to keep them clean . mine really could do with painting but does it mean i have to strip everythink to do a decent job? also the dep downpipe ive left my bike sitting after my last outing for a few weeks and has got rust at the neck. my own fault feel real bad

to be honest mate u should be happy with any bike to learn on. both dts are great but the re for me off road is alot mot fit for it -as i said lighter( dont no how much but getting onto the older dtr feels a bit of a tank after getting off the re can chuck it around a bit more for enduro type of rideing.., but yea i wanna no why them models 99 00 are so quick dont half pull ya arms lol but top end im at the top of the clock same as the dtr just the powerband seem deady sharp u will be over the moon if you get one mate great bikes-

never had a problem with the electric start except leaving the key in once drained the battery! and the bikes kept garaged all year round so free from frost-cold.. yea ive done quiet a bit of green-laneing mountains woods ect with her she does well i must say with a pair of ac10s on. clocked nearly 4 thousand mile on the gasket piston rings i replaced,so yea holds her own for a 2stroke was wary myself at firs but nothink but good reports on them. on and off road that is, ive drove to the coast a few times hour long journey each way and cruzed the beach while there. i park this thing right at the entrance of shops when going into town saves me parking in the car and walking up town on a mission!the bikes great can get me anywere all year anyweather rain hail snow- ice is not to good lol .. but yea its my first road bike and ive alway rode mx bikes best of both with these not quiet as fast but that powerband is deadly for a 125 road bike dont expect a yz or anythink but u will have heaps of fun pal!

go for the re mate i have it and my bro has the 2000 dtr-pulls like a train mind u! but i like my bike better seems alot lighter of itself and e/s is handy to have and no they are not hard to de-resrict just 1 cable and set the powervalve . and if you upgrade the exhaust system u might have to up jet and i would reccomened a aftermarket exhaust for defo(dep) looks well and sounds quality too- and alot lighter than the stock pipe. will let u wheelie a bit easier without the extra weight ps-dont get me wrong the dtrs are the dogs but i just like the new shape of the re feels a bit more mx -ish too (with hob nobs on)

found out my problem 1 of the power valve cables has snapped and not opening up right ..well not opening at all just ordered 1 its the longest one.. is this a common problem with the dt? i did upjet to a 240 but cant really see the difference yet as the pv isnt letting the bike rev high it runs ticks over fine on the 240 jet? but yea i reckon when i put my brothers exhaust on to test it must of snapped then because when i put mine on after it was shite lol.. hopeing well half ( KNOW ) it should be cured after this pv cable is sorted theres no other thing for it?? ps- i now no why it is important to keep regular checks on the bike and that includes engine -power valves would never of thought of it otherwise , might just pop the cylinder off to clean the powervalve.as i notice a bit of an oil leek so prob will need new o rings. and clean any carbon buildup while am at it.(tomoro is another day tho!!)

defo too big then i think..seem to be a bit blowey well oily just..ok well ill let u no if it runs any bettr mate hopefully the over revs coming to a stop will go too bike dont seem happy at all.. thanks again folks dtluke

cheers mate i will get too look at it tomorro after work and check . should of really waited untill i could see myself its just that i was at the yamaha dealer and it was a spare of the moment thing. sure i cam ring them anyhow if its wrong and get another just that he has to order it in to post to me tryed everybike shop and they say the same they dont stock them but can get them. ps what bout the gasket how comes it seemed a bigger and dont fit. cheers dtluke

sorry. just was a bit of topic i didnt need to no the size off an 88 dtr main jet. post wasnt helpfull at all sorry if i sounded blunt! yes the bloke also said the uk dts were 210 and -240 for an import(as mine spanish..i dunno im confused he said the dtr main jet was 210 and re diffrent or have i picked him up wrong.

hi folks anyone no what the main size jet is for the re model? think i might have to upjet a size bike doesnt seem to be running right since the dep pipe was put on. she goes n all..ticks over fine hits 75 not a big diffrence from when i had the stock downpipe on except the power band feels strange-she will start to scream and then gives up- now when im on my brothers dtr 2000 his is running like a charm power-band pulls like a train and his bike seems alot heavier than mine?? now before i got the dep system on i put my brothers on to try just to see (fitted ok except for 1 mount was off) and the bike took off like a rocket and went off the clock lifted in 3rd ..but as i took it off the clock-80..she bogged down and came to a stop and fired up again after 1min and done the same so i took that the sign for up jetting- so i got mine on and she just didnt feel the same and didnt have that nice tinny 2t sound, sounded weired hard to expain.so took it for a rip and she goes ok but just not right and seems to be over revving when coming to slow down so has to be running rich or lean not to sure. anyway ive ordered a a 260 main jet the bloke in the yam shop said they run on a 240 couldnt check on the bike as i was nearly 2 hrs drive away and hes posting it.so just wondering if anyone would no in advance?? what else could it be?? ill get a good look at it tomorro- oh and another thing i got myself a new exhaust gasket with the pipe but got it off ebay said the right size for the model but seems bigger and doesnt go in unless theres a nack to it _)? dont fancy getting the hammer anywere near my engine incase of damage to it. cheers for anyones time - dtluke

dt 125 brake caliper
hi folks, wondering if anyone would no if a rear brake caliper of an 05 dt fit onto the 2000 dtr model..?? as my brothers has seized tryed changing pads and the piston is stuck and wont release.. so think i need a new one/second hand one.. just found 1 for 40 but its off the above model so any help or any one with the nohow ??cheers .....dtluke

well boys and girls..sorry for no updates the last few days been very busy..got the bolt helicoiled if thats how its spelt lol. man charged me a fiver and done it infront of me really helpfull man whent throught the whole proccess with me just like you lot said how to go about it! so this morning i got the spanners out and had my brother help me with getting the cylinder back on(rings were very tricky on your own) and didnt fancy 1 of then not sitting right..wasnt too bad with an extra pair of hands got every think back together re-used my old bottom cylinder gasket well 2week old 1... tightened all up by the way u folks said criss cross.. felt the what i thought to be the right tightness on my calibrated arm lol was sh#t#n it just took my time. then replace head gasket(gen yamaha one) done the same as above all by hand no torque wrench just took my time and went very easy ! quiet hard for me to do no patients so any ways put all back together filled rad with just plain water ..started her up didnt struggle at all prob because i put oil petrol round cylinder prob helped.. but yea fired right up and let her run for 5 few wee rev bursts( i hear 2 st dont like to idle) stopped her after 10 15. cooled her down head got nice and warm was panicking incase over heating.. start again afer she cooled fired again no bubbling in the expantion tank left rad cap off to get and air lock blockages out..never sprayed when i reved either like b4!!! so let her heat up twice with no problems...at this time im getting excited.. so check over ever think again every think appears sweet as a nut.. then change my plain water to coolant and took her for a spin must of done 80 mile today letting her cool every 15-20 just incse to check for leaks ect..got petrol filled up 2stroke 2t castrol.. and every think has been grand no overheating no bubbling just checked again so at the mo im over the moon with meself so chuffed lol!! just fingers crossed now and i will be treating her to some arebis hand guards and new nobblies next week IF she behaves! so thanks alot to all helped me out here couldnt be more greatfull especially airhead had the patients for me nagging lol.. going for bath now lol im black look like a ryt gypo haha once again THANKS

ok ok mate ill get the cylinder off now and drop it round tomoro on the way to work and hopeully he says yes. if hes a bike machanic he should have the kit and all ready to go fingers crossed eh.

ill go there tomoro with the cylinder and see what it says seems to be 1 thing after another... ive re threaded a exhaust port on a quad a few years ago with the kit and worked the best...but the cylinder im thinking needs to be done spot on and done by someone with experiance..so will see tomoro now hope its not to big of a job for him .
