I was wondering this, 2 stroke oil in the gearbox can't be good?

For me it's what I grew up with, and then carried on listening to because everything in the charts is shite.

I haven't checked all the part numbers, but I think you can do a straight swap with the wheels from the 'X' version. I know that the discs are the same size. The forks on the 'R' are slightly longer but that's the only difference. Hope this helps!

They do make a SM version of the bike, not sure what years, do a search for wr250x. Might be worth looking at part numbers for that?

Best way to rule out the starter motor is to take it off and link power to it directly from the battery, see if it turns. If not you'll need to check things such as kill switch, and stand switch etc. I had a starting problem with my bike, turned out the contacts in the kill switch were dirty, cleaned them up, job done

Can't help you there mate, don't really know anything about exhausts. Don't think it would affect performance too much?

Given the time and effort you've put in I'm guessing you wouldn't sell it so why not go for the new barrel! That's a seriously nice bike though, tempted to try something similar to my dt when I get another bike. Your should definitely get it dyno'd when you've finished it!

Sounds like it's gonna be sweet! Shouldn't be too difficult to wire in that lot, just get the soldering iron out and go crazy! Are you making your own exhausts?

Luckily I can plug mine straight into my computer, then there's plenty of free software to copy it. The one I use is called 'audacity' definitely free for Macs, and I'm pretty sure it's free on Windows too.

Not too expensive then, I'd get one, and even if it's not that you have a spare just in case. Always nice to have a few bits lying around if you need one

In warm weather like this, mines probably on choke for about 10 seconds. It should idle quite quickly at first, then start to bog down a bit, i.e.start to choke. That's when I take mine off. Also if you drop it into gear with the sidestand down that'll kill the engine.

Have you priced up a relay yet? Also Haynes manual is a bit of a must have really. It will tell you in there how to test the starter relay and give you a wiring diagram so you know where to check.

That's strange, mine revs alot more freely than before. Do you have a rev counter then?

Just checked it again after refitting the battery, 14.2v now so looking good I think. Just got to wait and see if it holds charge

Yeah checked it at idle, was putting out around 12.5 to 13V. Definitely considering fitting a kick start now haha.

Anyway the battery never charged, so had to bump it this morning to get home, ended needing a hand from a mate lol. Went out for a ride after work, bikes running ok so back home to try charging again. Your trick is working foamy!
