  5. Hi Chris welcome to YOC what bike/bikes you got
  6. Could be good but a bit close to home for me only about 15 miles away, although I already have a few bike things going on this year so means I could make it without adding more nights away which gives Mrs xs one less reason to pull faces.
  7. Hi welcome Ian there's a few xs250 threads on here, good luck and don't listen to a word Jimmy says

Try squirting wd40 into the lock also you could try taking the tank off, hold it upsidedown and swishing the fuel round in it(if any) to lubricant the internal mechanism of the cap then try what Drewpy said. Is you bike carb or fuel injection the reason I ask is cos on many fuel injection bikes you can remove the plate underneath which might allow you access to the underside of cap. If not remove pet tap, fill tank with water then carefully dremmel around lock on cap. If all that fails try Slices idea

First thing is to say Hi, pref with a bit of info in the new members sec. Up to I think 1986 you're only required rear brake pedel brake light, but as already said you need most it. Lots of info on this on xs400.com could also look up drewpys tracker project on here somewhere but I can't remember name of thread. If you do an intro you'll get a much better response

Yep tis true they don’t like pods you will need bigger jets.drew will probably know although he upgraded his carbs to the carbs from the dohc then rejetted. I can’t remember if it’s the same on the older sohc but on my bike the carbs are both jetted differently owning to the shape of the air box so if that’s the case and it still has original jets they’ll be your problem

Well I bought the xs400 dohc more than twice the mpg of the rd and only fractionally slower, never had any trouble keeping up anyway, will do a constant 80+ on the motorway and still going strong 36 years later, but must admit when I see the prices of Rd's now I realize I fucked up big time

No you should get more than that, have you checked the breather pipe on carbs

Really enjoying this on TV what he lacks in ability he makes up for in pure grit, you gotta give the guy credit for taking this on and sticking with it (so far) every inch of him must be in pain and by day three don't think I would want to go on. Brilliant TV hope he makes it to the finish.

Working the weekend Drew, I was hoping to finish by tomorrow but its not looking likely, today I thought I could see light at the the end of the tunnel but turned out to be a train coming the other way.
  21. Yep Slicey you're right my xjr will start but then cuts out if I put it in gear with the side stand down
  22. Or side stand switch could be faulty or starter solenoid, first thing is to make sure all connections are clean and tight.
  23. Hi harry try taking it off the side stand
  24. What you mean you don't mind chopping bits off but it has to be the correct colour!
  25. Gets my vote
