  1. still not took any pics yet, I was so stiff after quad riding and the trip down on pillion I couldn't get it out the garage after work today
  2. I know some bikes need the filter soaked but don't think yours is one of them! Start with the simple stuff first.
  3. Yes thanks John Drewpy done me proud no not like that, picked bike up today haven't had time to take any photos yet will try & post some tomorrow if I get time after work, yes I know its bank holiday but I'm self employed and don't get paid for being off and I have to pay for the bike somehow.
  4. Never heared of using diesel Paul, wouldn't it contaminate the plates.
  5. I would just pour some oil trough the sparkplug holes and turn the crank a few times with a ratchet. Its much easier to store an air cooled engine though.
  6. Jimmy the first time I rode an xjr was in IOM a couple of years ago, Steve a mate of Drews at the time gave me go on condition that I gave it some welly, I pulled out the carpark at the creg as a ferrari came storming round the bend so I opened her up! same thing happened to me I glance down at the speedo as I hit 120 I thought this must be an import surly that's kph! But there it was MPH When I got back to the creg . Drew said the whole car park was laughing as I cut up The Ferrari then shot off down the road great memories wanted one ever since. Last year he give me a go of his Triumph Thruxton in the same place no Ferrari that time but really nice bike, I want of those as well but can't see that happening any time soon.
  7. Drewpy nice guy that he is has very kindly offered to take me down on the back of his tdm to a place called Bishop castle to pick up my xjr next sunday, we have to leave quite early because I have to be home before 2:30 to go quad riding with my son & daughter don't know what kind of shape I'll be in by then but really looking forward to this weekend.

Thanks Finn I've wanted one for a long time No room for any more Paul Ha ha Jimmy I know what you mean I have had a go on one a couple of years ago and wanted one ever since, by coincidence its from the same owner who let me have a go, he's just finished a restoration on it and decided to sell and move on to something else so I thought it would be perfect for touring this year and save my poor xs from having to try and keep up with the big boys No mate buying the one Steve has already fitted

  17. Great day out today, weather was perfect not too hot, good run down to the show which has to be said was a bit disorganized and as you'd predict on a day like today was very busy. We waited what seemed like forever for our food which wasn't great. Hung around in case Finners decided to show which he didn't so headed over to Llangollen and up the horseshoe pass to the ponderosa. We sat and chilled outside then headed back on the back roads via Chester where we stopped down by the river Dee for an icecream, as I said before great day mainly just for the ride which was brilliant, always good to catch up with Drew see you again soon mate.
