I was at Fraserburgh but I'm into old cars as well so I didn't take any bikes, don't know them but I remember seeing an X7. Heading down to Scone Palace this weekend with an old Fiat Topolino, hopefully it will stay dry for a change. All the best, Dave.

Hi all, advice required yet again, purchased my DT175 with a "big one" complete exhaust system, performance is quite poor with the power only arriving at 7,000rpm then tailing off at the redline 8,000. I had the original exhaust which is a bit tatty but put that on & it made a big difference, power now comes in around 6,000 & tails off around 7,500. I'm not sure of the carb jet size but when reading about the new exhaust it says jet changes are usually not required. Even with the standard exhaust I'm struggling to get much faster than 55 to 60mph, is this normal or should I check the sprocket sizes ? One again any information would be appreciated. Dave

I had a quick check but couldn't see the seal after removal of the pump, will I have to remove the entire right hand casing ? I've drained & replaced the oil to the correct level so I'll be able to check the level after a few days of running. Appreciate the advice.
  5. New member reporting in, already had some assistance from airhead in a previous post ( I jumped the gun a bit ) so here's the intro now. I've always been into bikes & have a few old & new(ish) ones - 1931 to 1983. A couple of newer trials bikes but I don't count them. Forums appear to be excellent & I've already gleaned a lot of good info. Oh, I'm in Northeast Scotland by the way. Dave

10 out of 10 airhead, checked this morning & the gearbox is full to the neck with what appears to be 2 stroke oil ! I'll drain, flush & refill with gear oil. I'll post an intro shortly, I was in too much of a hurry to post my question - sorry..... Thanks again.

Evening all, I recently purchased a 175Mx - 1978, engine had apparently had both top & bottom end rebuild but the issue I have is 2 stroke oil coming from the crankcase breather pipe. I've checked the oil pump clearance which was 0.014", removed shims to take clearance back to 0.008" but I still have the problem ? Any help would be appreciated - Dave.
