  2. Hey Norcot, welcome to the forum!
  3. Hey, welcome to the forum! Enjoy the bike, I'm afraid I'm not close to you...
  4. Hey, welcome to the forum, and welcome back into biking! I can appreciate the culture shock you must of had with the weather difference between Portugal and Ireland...!
  5. Hey Simon, welcome to the forum! Definitely start up a project thread for us.
  6. Hey, welcome to the forum!
  7. Hey there, just regarding your comment about theory test, afraid you'll have to re-do that. It only lasts for 2 years just like the CBT. About 30 quid if I recall. If I was you I'd get that done after your CBT and before you start having your Direct Access lessons, that way you won't have anything holding you up. You'll basically need your CBT and Theory Test complete before you can tackle the Mods 1 & 2.

    Run Foamy run.

Count me in (assuming Foamy is...!)
  9. Can't really go wrong with heading towards Chobham / Ottershaw then making your way around the likes of Longcross and Lyne, heading towards Virginia Water and Windsor (being sure to swing through Wentworth. Technically open to members and residents, but I enjoyed waking them all up in my old Mini...!) Also quite a good spot to stop off for a few snaps of your new pride and joy. But other than that, don't rely too heavily on planning a route, just enjoy!
  10. Hope I'm that much of a legend at 90... Ha ha ha!

    Latest Disaster

Oh Grouch... Well lets put this into perspective - at least it's another cheap fix! You had the last cable a year, how many miles did you get out of it?

    DONE IT

YAY!! Well done Welshy! Absolutely fantastic news. Do you know what bike you're after? Got a short list? I hope those L plates have already been removed...!
  13. I'm assuming you owned a 125 before this bike (based on your 33bhp restriction statement). Just keep telling yourself that it sounds better then that!
  14. Great one, yes I've dealt with Woking Yamaha before - a good bunch. Enjoy yourself, you have fantastic weather at the moment while you get used to your new steed!
  15. Well done on passing your tests! Enjoy the Diversion, great weather for a new bike at the moment. Be sure to share pictures with us...
  16. Hey, welcome to the forum! Looks smart - be safe in London. There are a few XT owners on here so you should be in good company.
  17. Hey Anna - welcome to the forum! Enjoy yourself out there.
  18. She very nearly took out the rear left side of that BMW... That would have been entertaining. I have no idea why people behave like this. Cynic summarises it perfectly, they are the cause of their own frustration. It's not like you cut her up when you pulled back in, or went passed her flipping the bird... Sometimes I find women to be the worst (and as one I can say that myself!) I've seen a woman actually get out of her car and have a go at some bloke that was leaving a gap ahead of him in a traffic jam. The gap was only about enough for a transit van. On top of that it was a single carriageway, so it wasn't going to get filled up with lane swappers. I thank the car drivers who see me (move over during filtering etc) and just ignore those who try to throw me off. Don't see the point in rising to the bait. Try to let their blood pressure rise, and not mine.

    Module 1

Ahh balls, forgot to answer your question! Went to book my Mod 2 today, but the dates they had available didn't suit my work (I travel a fair bit), so I'm currently booked in for 23rd May. Pretty long wait but I'll keep an eye out for any cancellations that suit me.

    Module 1

Good luck! This is for your A2 licence isn't it? Due to your age? Have you got plans to buy a bigger bike, or will you stick with your 125 for a while?

Cheers Welshy!! It's a great feeling isn't it?! Have you got your Mod 2 sorted yet?

    Module 1

Thanks Sparky! CBT is valid for 2 years. So if I don't pass my module 2 within two years of obtaining my CBT, I'll need to re-take things again. Same applies to the theory test which is also valid for two years. Basically, I now have two years (from when I passed my theory test, not module 1) to complete my module 2, and then I'm done. I'm old enough to go for direct access so I'm learning on a 650cc and once I pass my module 2 I won't have any restriction to my licence. Younger people have a restriction on the type of full licence they can get - quite clear information regarding that can be found here: http://www.geton.co.uk/Routes_to_Riding_January_2013. Regardless of that though, they still have to go through the whole CBT/theory/mod 1&2 route, but just with different size engines.

    Module 1

Thanks DT! Yeah I've settled on a Kawasaki ER-6f. I've gone around and sat on a few (Yammy, Suzuki etc) and this one feels the most comfortable (for me anyway). On top of that the school I'm learning with uses the naked version (ER-6n) which has given me a confident feeling about them.
