Let there be light!
Thanks NEV and Grouch, I'll bear them in mind for when the weather gets worse. I'm going to try ringing the garage tomorrow to see what they recommend about a replacement bulb that won't inadvertently affect the bike. That's my main concern right now - even the slightest improvement would be great!

Let there be light!
Thanks. :-) I've decided I won't be bothering with heated grips, the new gloves I bought are doing the jobs just fine - and if things get really bad then I'll purchase some *attractive* muffs... So as a result - sorting a new headlight will be the only electrical thing I'm focussing on. I'll try the garage to see what they say about it (good idea).

Let there be light!
Hey all! So some of you may be aware from a previous thread that all is going well with my YBR, apart from the lame headlight bulb (full beam is fine). It's making my trip down unlit roads really difficult as the headlight fails to light anything past 4 / 5 meters in front of me... Add to that the fact that these roads are generally national speed limit, it all makes me feel a little uneasy. So, I've been Googling replacement bulbs (as well as looking on here), but I'm just after some clarification as I struggle to understand this (lame I know...) The bike is fitted with a H4 12v 35w/35w bulb. I'm getting a mixture of information from the net as well as face-to-face. My questions are: 1. Should I just be looking to get a like-for-like wattage which is just halogen to improve things slightly? 2. Or, am I able to get something like a H4 12v 60w/55w xenon bulb without causing any damage to the bike? I apologise in advance for the constant hesitation, it's just I'm hearing from some that the higher wattage will damage the bike, and others that as long as the voltage is the same it won't matter. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Hi to you all
Hey there - and welcome to the forum! How funny, I have this bike (not the custom one) and have literally just got back from buying a replacement headlight bulb! I have found the same problem as likewise I ride down many unlit minor roads on my commute. Enjoy the bike!

Belated . . ."Hello All"
Yeah, I've had a sneaky sit on the faired version and it felt really comfortable. They also look nice, so it seems like the right choice for me!

Belated . . ."Hello All"
Hey! Great intro indeed, thanks for sharing. It seems a lot of people move up to an XJ from a 125 - and probably something I'll also end up doing. Safe travels and enjoy!

Feeling rather chuffed
HA HA HA! Well, this was an amusing read to come home too! I have to say though, you're clearly all more in touch with your feminine side than I. I'm not a tights wearer unlike you lot! :-p I did buy a pair of thermals last Sunday though, and have worked wonders in stopping my thighs from going numb.

New Boots
I have to admit, I was like that with mine, but I get the feeling my boots probably have more feeling and movement in them than yours as they are touring ones (http://www.rocketclothing.co.uk/BOOTS/ALPINESTARS/Alpinestars-Alpha-WP-Boot/prod_1586.html). It took me a few rides to feel comfortable changing gear and knowing that I wasn't pressing the brake. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll become accustomed to them. It's quite a big step up from trainers.

Hello all.
Ha ha ha! Well you have to admit, we have someone with a sense of humour here...! Welcome! And as Sacha says, maybe you'll find you like us more than just for our 'parts'. :-)

I'm officially jealous Grouch... Have a great time tomorrow around some fantastic roads. One thing I noticed was the lack of feeling with my boots. I'm used to them now (and wouldn't look back), but considering I went from a pair of pathetic (mesh-topped) gym shoes to boots - it was very surreal not being able to feel the gear lever! Add to that, the fact that I was still getting used to my bike after only a hundred odd miles... I'll be heading out on the weekend to enjoy some great roads in daylight.

Hey Kash - a fellow YBR owner eh?! They sure are a fun bike and I'm really enjoying mine. I have posted pictures of mine up - you should do the same! I'm also interested in hearing more about your mods. Make sure you keep us posted!
