Thanks for the advice. I had some spare cash so I went for the Anti-Vibration Piaa Xtreme White Plus bulbs (actually all spare cash has to be spent on the bike ). Sweet, blue eyes for my blue R1, although not cheap @ £40/bulb. I'll let you know if they're worth the money! Also, don't look at the bulb when on, it hurts your eyes

My first "big bike" is also an R1 although the slower 01 model I let the engine braking assist allowing the engine to decend while braking and then clutch in when revs are way down, drop gears and go again. Wanted the 07 R1 but no 0% finance on those

Hi all, Does anyone have a recommendation/comments when it comes to getting those extra or ultra bright light bulbs? I am looking at replacing the R1 bulbs with some Piaa bulbs, I know they are not cheap but if I get twice the dazzle it might make people see me , I have not seen any other bulbs that offer twice the light output for the same current. Thanks

Did you guys do physics at school? You even counter steer when you ride a pedal bike, you just don't know your doing it!

I found with light bikes the subconscious action of the rider coupled with the greater proportion of rider mass to bike mass means you do it without being aware of it since the rider mass helps break the gyroscope effect with little counter steer. Having moved to a heavier bike the weight shifting effect has little effect and I find myself having to now consciously counter steer, which will become subconscious with practice Find an empty car park perform some quick zig zags, works a treat

Thanks for the welcome, it feels so nice to be back on 2 wheels! The tires are nearly out so I will take the advice and put some Pirelli boots on. Yes the grin! After picking the bike up I could not stop, what a nice machine, I found it handled better when fully committing to corners and I have already been warned trying to put the throttle on too early coming out of the corner Town riding was not much fun but it never is. I put some pics here

Hi all, Back to 2 wheels after a 9 year break, I just picked up my new bike today ('01 R1 [blue]) and what a good ride home Has anyone any advice for riding/maintaining an R1? Also, is there a power restriction applied to a stock machine? Thanks

I am returning to motorbiking after a long break and have dived straight in with a 2001 R1 Can anyone give some advice on how easy it is to ride, how forgiving it will be, power delivery, things to look out for etc? I have seen the early R6 can be a bit of a bitch and not very forgiving, is that just because of the power peak whereas the R1 has a better torque curve? Thanks
