home made carb syncrhonizer for under $15 with photos and how to
I also made my own but a much smaller version and works a treat. I will say that you do need to restrict the flow as i never at first and it sucked near all the oil out the tubes once i fitted the restictors though was fixed and working proper mint.

Oil Leak
Hello peeps, seems i have an oil leak on the xj 600. I noticed thi the other day but thought nothing of it to be honest but it seems every time im out and then park the bike on its side stand im getting a drip. Oil is dripping out from the sprocket cover for some reason. Now i think some people will say an over oiled chain but this is not the case here. Im just wondering if there is a common seal that can go behind the cover and if so how much trouble to fix. I have removed the cover to check this but i cant seem to see it coming out for some reason.

clothing question.
Hi all have a somewhat random question to ask you all. Im wondeing from head to toe what clothing you where when riding your bike. Now im not talking about going a 300 mile run here i mean maybe a nip to the shop, a trip maybe 2 miles to see family etc. The reason i ask is i had this talk with my friend the other day and he is saying "2 min run down the road and i still wear full riding gear" i.e.helmet, gloves, snood, bike jacket, bike trousers and bike boots. Now i can see his point for safety but bloody hell it will take you longer to put that gear on so why no jump in the car(if you have one)? Anyway your thoughts, and i need head to toe gear where mind as i want to sum up against myself.

Cam chain tension?
Cheers guys i have now done the job and did seem as if it needed it as it does seem as if there is less noise from the engine though i do think i need my valve clearance done but not sure i want to try this as i have never touched these before on a bike. Thanks for all the help and info though.

Fuel leak 1991 fj1200
If its a 1991 model buddy i could be that the fuel pipe is perished through age. Should be a simple fix i would say. Should only be a matter of removing the tank and checking the rubber pipes and there is no great amount of money in the pipes, local car spares shop should have something, just make sure it can hold up to fuel.

Crank case cover
maybe tilt the bike over a bit in a secure manour of course and the oil should run the other way. Dont think there is oil in there though.

Cam chain tension?
Hi all again, yet another question I will buy a manual at some point I promise. I was wondering about the tension of my cam chain. Reason for this is I have noticed that it seems a bit noisy( the engine I mean) when I have her out a run. Now I know it could be a number of things I.e valve clearance but as I have never done this myself before I thought I would check the tension on the cam chain I gather this does not self adjust as I can see a bolt with a lock nut on the side on the tension adjust unit so can anybody give me a run down on how to check/adjust my cam chain? Sorry if you's lot think I'm a pain in the ass but I bought this bike with the intension on doing all my own work. Cheers folks.

Tyre size?
Yip the 100/90/18f and 120/90/18r sound good to me. I gather you get a more rounded profile over the width of the tyre on the 120 rear as i have noticed the 110 is a bit dull and flat looking and its not wear as the tyre is newish.

Tyre size?
Hi all i posted his elsewhere on the site but think i stuck it in the wrong area. Thing is i have a xj600 pre and was wanting to know about putting wider tyres on the bike. I know there is a rule not to mess wiht this but im not talking 180 rear here. I was thinking of maybe either 120 or 130 rear and maybe a 100 front. Reason for this is i feel its a bit to prone to jumping into road rutts and you get pulled about a fair bit. Also would like a more rounded profile. Another factor is this is the first bike i have owned with such skinny tyres and i also ride a gsxr 600 so im not want to go risking anything. Dont get me wrong i love the bike and i seem to be using it more than the gsxr which aint pleasing the wife ill tell you but i do feel the tyre change would help.

Bike looks mint buddy. Can i ask what the headlight is off as im thinking on removing the top fairing section on mine as i think it makes it looked dated. Is it major hastle to do?

Yamaha virago 125cc 97 Starting porblems
i would say that if it's starting with the spray from cold you have a cold start problem, i would be starting with the choke. Maybe removing the card and giving it a good clean and blow through all the jets and channels with an air jet.

Scratches
you could go to halfords and buy a clear coat touch up pen, give it a wee touch in and leave it high. Once its dry/hard get some very light wet'n'dry paper and flatten it down then polish with a t-cut. This does work but i cany say this strongly enough the paper must be light and you have to be careful when you rub the clear coat, take your time rub light and make sure you spray it with water when rubbing. If you dont know much about wet'n'dry paper it will fell like there is no grit on the paper. 2000 grit would be a good choice. If you dont feel comfy doing this a repair centre would remove it for you.

tyre choice on my xj pre div.
Hi all im looking to see if any of you folk can tell me your choice of tyres for this bike. At the moment it has bridgestones on it and i do like the bridgestones as i have always had them on the sports bikes but im wondering if there is maybe a better choice for this bike. Also has anybody ever heard of putting bigger tyres on this bike, I know your not supposed to mess with the tyre sizes but just wondered.

The damn rain
I also used to ride to work in the rain and will be doing soagain soon i think lol. Although i have to say its not to good when the rains on but on the other hand i think it sharpens your riding skill a bit. As my hardcore mate says (its a bit of rain ya big lassie you'll no melt).
