  1. Well we only have to MTO once when you first buy a vehicle here in Ontartio for vehicals under 3500lbs gvw over that annual inspection but in Alberta they don't even do it at all. I for one would like to see annual inspections for every vehicle, but our Gov is only intrested in emmission testing and that only applies depending on the density of the population area you live in,in a small town not far from me if you live on the north side of the street you dont need a etest but your neighbour who lives on the south side does And if your vehicle is built befor 1988 your exempt or it's a farm vehicle. What scares me most is people with no idea of what they are doing installing parts, like brakes then driving to the shop because they got it wrong and want me to fix it. I have seen it all from parts installed backwards to upside down or better yet they show up with a hand full of parts they couldn't figure out how to reinstall. If your MTO inspector dosent know more about your vehicle than you do he/she has no right to be in bussines,we have very strict rules when it comes to a MTO inspection and if the inspector misses or lets something go then they face fines of 5000.00 or more.So where you guys get advisories here it would just fail period no if and or but about it. The MTO does road side checks and will pull any vehicle over esp if it is looking unsafe and pull the plates off if it found to be unsafe,as well any mechanic who is working on a vehical finds defects ,by law must inform the MTO if the faut was not repaired, even if it not related to the work being done. And the POPO don't mind pulling you over and handing out fines for things like lights tires mufflers excessive smoke. I guess the foward thinking here is if you can keep a car on the road for 30 yrs without it rusting away then you must be taking very good care of it.
  2. One small detail that people miss is that the steel plates have a sharp edge and a rounded edge the sharp edge goes to the basket.
  3. Hi and welcome that is one cool shop you worked at,never have to worry about lunch.
  4. If you go to his web site you will see the gyro he built into it ,it is self ballancing,as for parking it has a built in stand at the rear,he built it because his daughter asked him if he could. I wana see mcLean jam the brakes on and spin upside down again and again LOL
  5. Suzuki did it back in 1986 with thier gsxr 750 limited edition it had a dry clutch sounded like it was falling apart,my buddy had one and people would stare at it at lights,he would get comments all the time about the racket.
  6. It wouldn't get over 124mph terminal velosity for a skydiver is 124 mph or 54 ft per sec so would matter if you put foams or kev on it LOL WE had a yam 180 scooter years ago for a pit bike it was a blast that thing got crashed so many times,I think just about anyone who got on it crashed it the tires don't work so good on wet grass, sand, mud well just about any surface. It was on loan from the local yam dealer LMAO they didn't want it back when they seen it.I wonder what happened to it?
  7. Nope it would be a plain thinking idea,,,,,, as a line such as drawn bysecting the wheels when the front is in the air would be a plane from vertical or horazontal, though the latteral excelleration would be insane.
  8. Yes it is complety usless in most applications but a exelecent job of designe/engineering and you dont have to peddle it, It is old now he made it 3-4 years ago,, I belive he is in new york and nothing moves there durring rush hours so might work that way, moving at say 15 kph is better than walking or stuck in traffic not moving. The hoola hoop well just plain wierd it was done back in the 1930's and it didn't catch on then so doubt it ever will lol
  9. Just awee tip you can reuse copper washers if you heat them with a torch to redish hot the copper expands so it can be crushed again and seal.
  10. I hope Yamaha does a build off like they did with the Bolt, I could build that into some cool stuff,,, as it sits meh? Consideing they were only about 1500 new back in the 80's the price sure has gone up
  11. Put one of them Makio 700cc single cylinder 2t's in it then you will have a mitomaiko 80 hp wheelie machine.
  12. First your pictuer is crap so could not say 1 way or the other. But DDT did comment and I agreed with him so no point in me commenting the same thing. If your realy so worried about it then put a inductive clamp on the spark plug wire and use a elec rpm gauge easy peasy and you will know exactly how much it is out. Manufactuers set red line below what they know the eng is well capable of to keep warenty claims down and make engines last longer. MY jeep has a red line of 4500 rpm but will rev to 6000 no problem and has been reved to 8k I am sure a few times getting out of mud holes. And it wasn't even floating valves. The WR has NO tack and revs to 14k but how the hell would I know I just hang on and twist the throttle hard to the stop ,, shift when I think it needs it or not if I am realy close to slowing down anyway for the next conner. That bike seems to go faster keeping it aroud 10-12k rpm when you shift. but that is a seat of the pants guess. As you didn't fuck with the squish in the head your well safe into 12k prm,I am not saying go ride it at 12k but if you end up thiere then it not going to just suddenly blow up The best way to know is when the power falls off it's time to shift before that RPM make mental note of the rpm and use that as red line or if you get to say 10k rpm and the power dosent fall off then just use that realy no need to run them high as the torque curve falls off anyway and you would go faster shifting ealier in a set distance. When breaking in a motor it is good to rev the bike as this sets the ring wear higher in the bore, people don't belive it but yes things do strech under higher rpm and if the ring land is set to low durring break in then the more chance you have to do ring dammage when you do rev it. Your just worring about nothing HONESTLY the bikes love to be reved I wouldn't tell you if I thought it was going to hurt your bike and by what I can see in your picture the plug is fat and not lean so cant hurt it that way either.
  13. You want a v twin cafe' don't you lol or let me guess again we both build v twin trackers this winter?

    Fz600 Gulf

It's in one piece and it runs, you want glam after what happened to little G,,,,it looks ok and you got to beat it now it owe's you for the grief it caused, would have been done by now if it had not.
  15. What you afraid to get your nails dirty hehe, get in there next time it's not that hard ,, your BF and cus did a realy nice job from the picts nice and flat smooth, guessing a pearl white paint?
  16. NOOOOOOOOO not another "I want to make my 125 go 1000 mph LOL"
  17. Yes it will work ,,and so will using it and,,, so will a small shot of wd40 every day for a few days the cable comes off easy enough. GO REV THE FUCK OUT OF YOUR BIKE AND STOP WORRING ABOUT THIS ... I Have owned 4 of them and everyone of them seen 11000 rpmw many times just dont hold em thier and all will be fine. If your scared when it hit 9k now then well ??? you now have entered the relm of 2t POWER!!! Because it's still pulling when old 4t's of the day would have been running out of steam. As if I am giong to pull a shift at full lean mid conner at 9k rpm just because I didn't gear right or couldn't for that track that thing is going to reved to 12k if needed and that bike is ment to do it!
  18. Normaly I hate vids with music when someone is doing a build, but that is some skill's you have with a sewing machine.I have tried to sew with me moms and never comes out straight ,well not good enough for me. Did you just glue it down the seat cover that is? normaly most stapel them as well. Not my type of bike but looking good. And I like how your using alot of discard materials the foam for the seat was great old packing material ...cool!
  19. Run the number with the dvla and see if its a good number they changed the way the stamp the numbers from a solid stamp to more of a dimple type of number so might be good number. When in doubt I always tell the dvla that I am thinking of buying and would like to know if it's a good number before buying, then if it comes up bad, stolen or what ever then you know. Thery don't charge for that here but if they do your side well worth a few bucks to know.
  20. Well if you have everything for the 2006 including the cdi & voltage regulator( possibly the vr is the same but doubt the cdi is) then why go buy other stuff? Get yourself a wiring diagram for the 2006 and start pluging in things chech you ignition switch that they are in the correct position and the rest is pretty straight foward. That said do you know if the 2006 motor is any good? Compression, stator is good, shift through the gears, clutch releases/enguages. you would want to know before you go and switch everything only to find you have to rebuild it. What is exactly wrong with the 1990 motor you say it needs a complet over haul? rarely do you need to replace much more than say pistons rings possibly the crank and seals. But you would want to open it up and check things like clutch and tranny You realy havent given enough information about the rest of the bike either is going to need chain sprockets tires ect.. you want to do is sit down and realy try to put together a cost list and then see if fixing it is work it vs just going and buying a running bike and keep it for spares,to many times people start projects and then realize it would have been better to not do it after they spent a ton of cash. Hope that helps answer you question
  21. Shifter shaft seals tend to be the most common leak from that area. Best to pull the cover off clean it up and run the bike on the side stand and see if you can see where it's leaking before you go ordering parts.

    My ride

Nice to see someone else who keeps thier bike clean, unlike someone who buys a new bike and lets the weather have its way. Slice I know your as old as dust but that seat on a fj??? My buddy put the corbin on his FJ and its very comfy
