  1. Jimmy wrong way to think we's all's gona go some day I'd rather go riding than anyother way. BUT I know what you mean .......the first big crash at about 8yrs, my son had was at about 40mph tank slaper and he did the full superman on gravel ,knocked the wind out of him scared the duck out o me,full gear on and he walked away with a few bruses. Next big one was when he hit a rock wall and the bike tried to crush him into the wall, walked away again at 9yrs. I was FREEKED OUT..Till I got to him both times..He is still fine at 14 and when he hit's the road he will be fine as he knows how fast stuff changes. My crashes over the years well to many to count on the tracks but,,,, road wise been safe, many a close call but it really comes down to thinking all the time that "they" are all trying to kill you. And I still think .....why walk safely through life only to come out the other side dead anyway....Live it up on 1 or 2 wheels LOL or what ever else get you going..ie perfectly good plane lets jump out HAHA just for fun. There are more ways to die than have fun and the governments will wrap us all in bubble wrap soon enough so live free and ride at "your own risk" LMAO while you can.
  2. I was born to ride my mom reminds me all the time about how I would ask daily "when do I get my bike" . I could barly ride a push bike,my cousin left his mini bike running and I jumped on and took off no helmet shorts and sandels everyone screaming for me to stop. NO way I was in my glory.Sadly I guess he went to get gas as it ran out and that was the end of my first ride They bought me my bike at 5 never been without one since EDIT that was 1972
  3. The cable can also be adjusted at the clutch cover.remove the tension at the bar set the cable up first so minimal slack is in the cable then use the bar adjustment
  4. No problem I get warnings when I try to check my phone bill as it's a unsafe site ,,,,,BELL canada .Hope you learnd something from the artical that is.
  5. What you need to consider is the difference in weight between a 400 and 250,this is the most imporntant part if the 400 is close in weight then it shound be fine ( belive mostly just the top end is where your going to see added weight) then check that they didn't use the same front end with a spring up grade. No point in buying a whole front end if you can slip in new/used springs at a lower cost or to find it's the same alltogether. Check spring manufactuers and cross ref. the 2 bikes as the 400 and 250 are so closely built wouldn't suprise me if they share the same front end. As the 400 is mainly just a bored out 250. A cheaper way is to add a spacer of 5mm-20mm top the spring and heavier oil say 15w vs the 10w. People who laugh at up grades should be slaped alot has change in 30 years and lots of room for improvment on the old bikes. PS also I wouls up grade the brakes to dual piston and larger rotor over spending money on a new front end.IMO money better spent.
  6. 1 st a intro in new members is in orded BAD GROUND./S
  7. LOL I would have thought you would have checked that first, but so you know for next time you would want to do a voltage check eng off is fine your just looking for battery voltage to be present. on both terminals when the switch is in the appropiat position. As for being rough with it doubt that they take alot more abuse just running down the road, more like just a weird consiquince, but do NOT ever touch the galss part of the bulb or it will be very short lived( hallogen) whipe down with alocholo if you do.
  8. Just my 2cents but I like the blue on white, not a big fan of the white as I know it wont stay white once scratched and soaked in mud. The red on white looks retro of the bike from the mid 80's but a bit like the huskies of today.Pick your fav colour and go with it at the end of the day it's your bike and who cares what others think of the bike. Sticker kits only last a couple of years before they show wear so not like you cant change it if it realy bugs you
  9. Well the first thing to check is if there is powre getting to the light possible the wireing has come appart,so un plug light and test with meter or test light. then if no power keep working back to the switch. possibly the wire has become pinched to ground ( earth) or broken. Not much to it realy think of it like water the flow has stoped some where just a matter of finding it. Hope that helps.
  10. Hi and welcome ,you have just started a new chapter in life may the pages be good ones. Don't bother trying to explain it to non riders, how simply getting on your bike can make a bad day good
  11. LOL looks wise wont matter as I intend to cut it up,And wheel base will be alterted.I was more concerned with the over all workings. The 750's of that era were bad for eating starters/starter clutches,so just looking for that type of info and so far I can't seem to find much bad about them 535's.
  12. HAHA preload it the vigies owners club I think your security is off.
  13. Yep be nice and tell them how disapointed you are and would like some compensation, you might get a new lid, free service ect.. if your persistant. They didn't build it and dont have a crystial ball to know it would be a problem, but if they want repeat bussines from you then they will do something to make you happy if not then you have options. Good luck and hope you come out happy,I would be pissed off too
  14. HAHAHA what a deal better pick it up before the price goes up
  15. First Tom you should say high in the new members setion, neat little toy you have. You need the cdi ,voltage regulator, ignition coil and then ignition switch and a good wireing diagram to hook it all up ,,or a harness from a bike to shorten would be the easy way. I assume that you have all the internal electrics, pick up coil and stator. as it has a starter attached might as well hook it up with a battery and I can see in that mess of wireing you have the selonoid. but the placement of the motor will be a problem as your going to get burnt. and where is the seat going to fit?
  16. Just something I stumbled across,,but well worth the read for all.http://viragotechforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=196
  17. LOL google brings me back to the best place for answers
  18. I can honestly say I know sfa about these bike's,back then I was not intrested in them at all. Not to mention hardly any got sold here. So good points or bad comments welcome. It's next to free but not sure I want it?
  19. With todays ethonal fuels I am a big fan of sealing a metal tank!,, did mine just cause I don't want it rusting from the inside out.
  20. 1st wheelie bar's are never made from square tubing, unless your looking to make 12o clock bar, a drag wheelie bar has to flex so no cheap stuff ,,, cromoly ROUND tube seamless. And even a good 12o clock bar should flex or your going to snap weld points. What type of bar are you wanting to build? EDIT: old leaf springs from a car/truck are cheap and work if you do it right.
  21. Congrats dude get your sleep in now, be a few months going on little, once your new bambino arrives
  22. At 577 it's going in for it's first service and all issues you have,,complain about them ,as DDT said make a list . Take pictuers of you bike very good ones and note any scratches they might put on it when servicing, and befor you take the bike back inspect it closely. They are professionals but human and things happen. Your tranny will smoth out in time 5 second start from cold not a big deal, once warmed up though thats not right. If your using the bike daily then you should never need a optimiser, only time mine gets used is when the bike go sleepy for the winter.
  23. Nope!! no test for CDI! check everything and if no faults found then repacemaker it. Pick up coil just got to go by the book and if it spikes ohms as your heating it then =faulked Get a temp gun and check the temp probably not as hot as you think.
