My dream bike and the daddy to my xj600. A black xjr yummy
  3. It sounds a lot better, even my mrs said it sounds nice. It wont make any difference on performance, obviously..... seeing as its only a divvy. Feels like it accelerates a bit quicker but then i put that down to the weight loss more than anything. Currently have no baffles in and surprisingly it aint that loud!!! (obviously well packed) still illegal but not as loud as ya microns etc, even with the quiet baffles in it still sounds nice and deep just got that horrible fffffffffff p p p p sound in the background. (just put em in for mot i suppose.) All in all im pleased, nice quality, nice looking/sounding LIGHT exhaust.
  4. wow. that looks shiney very nice looks kinda heavy too
  5. not quite lol more like tilbury in essex, just off the filthy river thames
  6. IXIL Extreme Short exhaust. Chrome teardrop mirrors and dominator lights....... I have new headers on the way and i might purchase a small fly screen just to lose a bit of the gap between the clocks and lights. The ixil doesn't weigh half of one original silencer and i had to remove the centre stand so you can imagine the weight loss.

chin up fella, dont give in. i passed last week, got 4 minor faults.... 2 were for moving out and looking to overtake but not having the opportunity to complete the maneuver. faults???? my instructer told me the examiner was picking at things because my riding was more than up to scratch, he said another examiner would have recognised those "faults" as confidence and trying to make progress..... although i was lucky in some way.... after my u turn i got back on the bike and was told to ride around the block for the emergency stop. after completing the emergency stop the examiner asked "at what point did you realise that your side stand was down" eh?? er er 1st corner.... " i thought so, it must have been up just enough not to cut the engine out when you put the machine in gear! that was lucky" still, you have at least 6 months until the new test is brought in. you will pass
  8. help.......... i just bought a divi 600 for commuting and there is no owners manual so i will have to source one out. in the mean time can anyone tell me where the steering lock is? if it has one. i cant seem to lock the steering via the ignition, plus it doesent say "lock" on the barrel....... ive looked all round the forks etc but cant find any other key hole which leads me to belive it doesnt have a lock????? any help much appreciated. p.s boring bike i know but an ideal workhorse.

im nearly there! just need a new rear tyre, some blue grips, new front number board and a lick of paint on the casings.... i decided to go for 92 rear panels/fender and tank scoops because they look so much better but as for the engine, its all old skool baby! some pics of before and after: feel free to comment, criticism more than welcome as im always looking for ways to improve my project

the more you ride them the harder you ride them the harder the are to wake from their cold, web ridden coma. everyone knows two strokes need high maintenance (here i go making assumptions again) you should be able to source parts for an 82 yz....... a good friend of mine just completly rebuilt a 1978 yz, all new parts too. good luck (if you decide to buy)
  13. i agree with paul dt125, could be a 1974-75 model......

no mate. later models ie after 03 the front pipe restrictors are right inside the fattest part of the expansion pipe. to derestrict these you have to cut the pipe in half, remove the two restrictors and then weld the pipe back together....... a lot of work for very little gains. best off buying a dep or an earlier original front pipe 88-99 and derestrict that. i just happen to be breaking a 92 dtr and have a derestricted front pipe for sale

your cdi should be fine..... if its only a 94 model. take your front pipe off, remove the insert that looks like a washer (three spot welds) its actually a piece of pipe with a smaller bore discard this and refit your front pipe. unless your powervalve has been adjusted in the past it will be pegged shut restricting your engine to around 14bhp. by fully opening the powervalve you can gain up to 26bhp. trouble is if you fix it open you wont have much power in the low revs (this is where a servo comes in handy) but once you hit the band it will pull well.
  19. he said he cant see the pv in the exhaust port. that means its fixed open. if it wasnt fixed open he would be able to see it, even if it wasnt fully open you would still see some of the powervalve. the standard final drive on my 92 dtr was 15t-57t (70mph easy). i bought the bike brand new from a dealer so nothing had been changed. but im still wrong eh....
  20. if you cant see your powervalve its fixed open permanantly ( deristricted )
  21. you want top end. remove the dep and put back the original front pipe...... the dep pipe for dtr's looks very similar to the fmf gnarley pipe which is designed to give maximum power in low to mid rev range, ideal for offroad conditions but it wont get you doing 80-90mph. take my yz for example.... it would piss over most road bikes to 40-50mph but id be flat out in 6th not long after. i have aftermarket pipes, 13tooth front sprocket and a 52tooth rear. set up for acceleration (wheelies in every gear) if i remember rightly, standard final drive on a dtr is 15t front and 57t rear, if you gonna keep the dep change the front sprocket to 16t or rear to 55t for more top end.....
  22. just showing off i guess, not that i was impressed at all...... i can just imagine the owner saying to his dimlow pal " ya reckon that pipes hot chav? touch it and find out"
  23. if i had that bike i would spend as much money as it needed to get it back to near original condition. wouldnt be easy finding parts but well worth it in the long run....... could be worth a lot of money in the future if kept well. mind you id be more inclined to look for a proper classic twinshock to refurb.... like this 71 yz250

stator and rotor fit and works fine. kicks over first time every time ......... however, the cylinders are slightly different! the exhaust port on the 89 is central and on the 88 its slightly to the right(looking from the front) so i need an 88 front pipe

morning all.... need your help if you dont mind. i have a 1989 yz125 and the barrel is fu*+ed to be honest with ya. i also have an 88 engine which is immaculate and on standard bore! (jap import) but it aint got a stator plate or flywheel........ will the stator and flywheel from my 89 engine fit and more importantly work in my 88 engine??? if not can i use my 88 barrel/piston/head on my 89 engine??? hope i didnt confuse you too much, any help/advise will be great..... cheers
