thanks, I did find the issue to this. It was a bad flasher. The replacement I bought was not compatible even though it looked the same. I am going to try a 262 flasher relay (all electrical) and see if it will work. I jumpered two connections behind the flasher relay connector and the lights now go on, they just don't flash. now to solve my other electrical issues.... PS. I wondered if I needed a fuse or resistor when testing bulbs.

The old one does click audibly, so I wonder if its good and I just have a bulb out...
  3. Thanks for that. I am stateside. I'm embracing patience in exchange for seasoned expertise, so no worries there. I just want the widest net of experience when I run into trouble. Waiting a day for answers is fine.
  4. Fantastic. Thanks for the help. I'll be chasing the volts today through the wiring diagram, but if I have to use some used ones, I can find them soon enough on ebay. Cheers, Drew
  5. Hello lads, Doing electrical on a 1976 xs 360. I may need to replace my coils. They're both showing around 9.2 for the primary coil (orange wire to plug lead), but showing zero for the secondary coils. (orange wire to red wire) Also the voltage regulator is way out of spec. Instead of showing 10.5 ohms resistance, I get 112.3 (red/black to brown wire) ohms. Another wonky number for (green wire to brown wire) measurement. 111 ohms. If I can only find 1977 coils or voltage regulators, will they do as well? Cheers, Drew
  6. Thanks very much. Glad to be here!
  7. try this again: Greetings! Hello to all. Drew
  8. Hello to all, I'm the happy owner of a 1976 360 xs and live in Los Angeles where a motorcycle means you can actually get places in under an hour. I've been wondering about a few things and thought the forums would be a great place to start. I do spin wrenches on my own vehicles, so apologies if I pop up with a desperate question, I'm usually at my wits end by that point, manuals and internet not yielding an answer. Regards to all, Drew

Went for a ride the other day and we noticed my turn signals not blinking. They were solid. When I parked the bike, the flasher unit (metal cylinder under the tank) was buzzing audibly. I turned off the bike and it stopped. Sprayed the handlebar switch with wd 40 and changed fuses later that night. Checked and removed the flasher unit. Now there's no lights at all with it reinstalled. Flasher does click once if I use signal switch, but lights don't come on at all. All bulbs test fine for continuity. 1. Battery charges up to about 12.22 on trickle charge. Bike starts fine. 2. Swapped old flasher unit for new one, heavy duty three prong flasher 32cp max. Not sure if it's the correct replacement or not. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Drew
