I understand your point of view. But the bike I have now is a 4T so the only thing I really needed to do was change the oil. I have had the bike a year and I have rode it everyday and rode it hard. Since a few weeks ago the bike was fine apart from the expected wear & tear. The bike is also stored outside in all weathers (under a sheet) which I personally think contributes to a lot of the problems. When I get my 2T in a few weeks the bike will be stored in a garage and only rode for pleasure on a weekend. I will be spending a bit on it and it will be my pride & joy (for the time being) so it will not be getting neglected, ragged, redlined.

The only 2T self mix I had was an old Vespa. the other 2T's I have had were crossers and they had pumps. I am just confused with conflicting opinions. The last thing I want is for the engine to seize or blow when I get a 2T. The type of engine I get will be very fragile, I want a mito or an RS.

I've been reading that a lot of people just pre-mix their 2T oil and fuel beacause the auto mix reservoir or whatever they are called are crap. I s this just a problem on a specific make of bike, or is it wide spread? Now that I am aware of this I think I will be self mixing, it's just not worth the risk of your engine seizing because their is not enough oil going through.

So be gentle and do not exceed the speed limit? So a good technique would be just to stick to the speed limits in urban areas?

As some of you know I'm on the look out for a 2T. If I can I want a bike which has just had a rebuild so then I know where I am with it. A few ads have said needs running in like a new engine. I don't have a clue apart from do not thrash it? What exactly does this mean?

I'm with MCE and my renewal is less than half what I paid last year. You need to phone them again and use the compare websites.

Nice one, you've got a cracking first bike, I'm jealous of DT's since one overtook me the other week.
-
Welshy, my exhaust guard is looking a bit tatty, so let ne know how it turns out so I can do mine.
-
Odd, I would of thought the bike would have had a newer engine in an older frame. The engine must of been hardly used.

Nice little project bike, should keep you entertained, you could have it looking mint.

Nice, I'm definitely getting a 2T sports, want a Mito, but if I see a nice TZR or equivalent I'll have that. Like the Mito's though, they're like little Ducati's to look at.

I'm not putting my test off, its getting done this year. It's just going to take a while to save enough money for a nice bike. I don't want my first 600 to be a piece of crap. Its going to take months thats why I want a 2T to keep me entertained through the summer. Yes Bippo I'll have at least two, maybe three!

No Ken it is going to be my second bike, just used for fun on a weekend. I'm still using my XT as an everyday runaround.

Decided to get a 125 2T. I really fancy a Cagiva Mito. It will only be used in a weekend through the summer then put into storage. My bike is really slow and I want something a bit faster for me to get used too. I'm going to do my test in the summer. This will give me chance to save enough money to get a 6/12 month old 600.

Thanks guys : ), Yeah I have to be over the worst now : ) can't see anything major going wrong now. I have taken extra care of the engine using top oil and changing regularly. All it needs now is the fork seal and the electrics sorted.

How good are they? I want another BT-45 tbh.

Got it back and they fixed the headlight for free. Just going to take it steady for a few miles to make sure it doesn't fuck up again.
-
Thanks guys. I surprised myself because even though I was scared ect, I didn't panic and remained calm. After this I'm buying some proper gear. My gloves aren't good enough and I want some kevlar jeans.

Bippo I have spent a lot of money on the bike and I would only get around £1k for it so who ever was getting it would be getting a right bike with all the extras such as the digital aftermarket speedo. I don't really need the money either so I can just have it as a spare. Even more so now the insurance has dropped to less than half I paid first time round. Jimmy, I think they are sorting it free of charge and rightly so!

Nah not selling it. I am doing my test this year though. The garage have it and said it will be done tomorrow.

After getting my bike back after 2 weeks I was pretty happy, its running a lot better and apart from the bulb holder breaking it was ok, until this afternoon. I was doing 55 mph on a by pass the road was busy and the wheel bearings went!!! I swear to God it just happened in an instant, the back wheel started bouncing all over and so did the bike. It was pretty scary and thank God I managed to control the bike, for a few seconds I thought I was coming off and I braced myself. Anyway got to a safe place and phoned the garage up who had just replaced the bearings and all the other £350 worth of work. They come out pretty quick and when he looked at it, he said the carrier bearings had gone? Can't fucking believe this shit!!!

Never selling it, I'd rather let it rot away than let someone get it after all the money I've put into it. Just putting her into storage.

Just had a new tyre fitted, a vee rubber that cost about £45. Straight away I noticed the difference from my BT 45. I don't feel safe on it and my confidence has dropped massively going round corners. I didn't want a cheap shitty tyre fitting. It's going to have to come off.
