I totally understand that you think it looks like my bike must look dodgy. My bike is 100% roadworthy with no mods at all (look at my sig). Last night it was 12:20 in the morning so I kind of understand getting pulled for a 'routine' check, but it is their attitudes when they addressed me. They thought they were fucking Nazi's. When I was younger I used to be a little cunt and am no stranger to them. So all I can think of is they are harassing me because they still think I'm on the wrong side of the law. I don't know the reason but, it's nothing to do with my bike, or my riding style. The copper went over my bike with a fine toothcomb, so if the tyres were bald ect, I would of been done.

W Warped means twisted. The chain is stretched and twisted, it is definitely knackered. It was April when it got replaced, I have just thought. It was that dickhead rip off con man wanker that did it. If anyone can remember my post, the mechanic ripped me off and lied to me. It must be the way he has fitted it that has affected the lifespan of the chain. In fact did he even fit a new chain and sprocket?

On my home from work I got pulled by the the police. This was the third time since getting my bike in March. I was not breaking any laws. The copper said I was doing over 50 on a 40 road, when in fact I was doing 38. The copper then tried telling me how fast my bike was (lmao) I then corrected him saying that my machine is only capable of 10hp and it is a very slow bike. It is even below the legal power requirement. I carried on protesting my innocence. He then began the old 'so your calling me a liar' routine. I said well you must have me doing over 50 mph on your camera. He then went over my bike with a fine tooth comb trying to do me for a defect, while his colleague started quizzing me about dates I got my CBT ect. After 20 minutes he let me go. I did not do anything wrong and I am fully legal. My bike tops out at 55 so to be doing over 50 I need a few mile run up lol. I just don't understand the police's attitudes, they are clearly drunk with power. Since March I have been pulled three times for fuck all. The last time I got pulled I asked the copper for his number because I was going to lodge a complaint with the I.P.C.C. but he refused to give me it, and drove off laughing.

The tanks are plastic on XT 125's

I have done a minimum of 5k miles of hard riding. The last set I put on was a £30 job from eBay. I have been lubing the chain periodically, but I suppose I could of done it more often. I have some proper Motul lube. When I went to tighten the chain the other day, the wheel would not align if it was tight, so I had to slacken it off to make sure the wheel was aligned. I also noticed the chain is warped. I have been lubing the chain when cold. Cheers dt

Caught the second half of this. I saw the first two episodes where he restored his XT 500. I'm sure it will be repeated many times. Its nice to see a programme dedicated to bikes.

I've booked it in to be sorted at a garage next week. I have told him I want a Renthal kit putting on. I was going to do it myself, but I really can't be arsed and I don't have time at the minute. The mechanic said it will cost about £70 for the chain and sprocket set, and £48 to fit it, providing everything goes smoothly. I am being a bit lazy not doing it myself but I know for a fact as soon as I start it, something will fuck up and it will turn into a complete nightmare job.

Did my instructor say anything about chain and sprockets, or even bike maintenance? No he didn't. From the information you have given me, it appears my chain is knackered. Thanks for the reply.

Also is it worth paying more or am I just as well getting a cheap set? I read something somewhere yesterday that you can tell that your chain and sprocket need replacing by the chain adjuster marks on your swing arm. Is this true? I know it will depend on the bike etc, but how often should you change them if you ride every day? They were last changed six months ago, so I think they need to be done.
