Hello from a total newbie :)
Thanks, DirtyDT. (sorry for the late reply) I "passed" a very inadequate CBT on Sunday and insured the bike. Now to book the MOT. Getting there.

Is this a fair quote?
Update: I somehow got things wrong, the first payment was actually £172.87 (excluding cash-back) but it's all good, I just want to get on with it. I "passed" a ridiculously inadequate CBT on Sunday.

Upgrading the headlight.
Thanks for the info, Dickwad. I don't know if it makes that much of a difference but I have an XVS 125, not a 650.

Reflectors and/or lights at the back of passenger's seat?
Unless I'm missing something you'd have thought they would allow for more options. They're happy for us to stick all sorts of reflectors on helmets, jackets, pants, rear/front of the bike, etc etc.. so as to increase our chances to be seen by other drivers, but the regulation seems to be very restrictive as to what lights you can use; lights that would surely be more effective as they are not dependent on other light sources. There are obviously colours you need to stick to and you shouldn't use anything that could endanger/blind other road users, but still. The following is an over-the-top/extreme example but it would surely make a bike more visible.

Reflectors and/or lights at the back of passenger's seat?
Thanks guys. So could I legally install flashing led lights (red at the back, white at the front) as used on push-bikes?

Hi all Is it legal to put some reflectors and/or lights at the back of the passenger's seat (I.e, sissy bars)?

Is this a fair quote?
My latest Swinton (Aviva) online quote: £132.87 - Comprehensive - Bike value: £1500.00 - Xena Alarm Disc-Lock + Tracker (DIY installs) - Parked in private property - 4000 miles/year - Sole driver - Pillion - "UK and Home Breakdown cover" - "Riders' Legal Protection" (at £30/year, included in the quote) - Voluntary Excess: £0.00 - No Claims Bonus Protected: no There's a "£30 cash back" offer at the moment, which would make the 1st payment: £102.87 I think it is pretty good for a new driver.
