I have had the same problem of my bike not reving past 7thou, i have discovered that if i take the rubber connection from the back of the carb that connects onto the airbox it will run a lot better, this leads me to believe that its the main jet that is to big and i havent got the correct fuel to air ratio, it sounds like its being choked and not getting enough air, i've been at this problm for ages, if you think of anything else let me know
  2. Well i waited but got no reply so went and bought an R&G, it goes with the crash bungs aswell so keeping it all the same
  3. OK all you well read and bred, which is the best tail tidy to buy and fit please take into account the cost as i don't want to buy something that I'm just paying for the name waiting in Earnest as I've just bought the bike with that awful girder thats stuck on the back
  4. it could be a lot of things, timing, lack of oil, carb, thrown a ring, by the sound of it its on the way out if its betting hot after 30secs, might even be in the throws of seizing who nows, if you find the source let me know

I bought this as a box of 98% complete, seems like i was had over as i've already bought another box of bits so i can complete it, fortunately i've kept the phone number so will when its built a phone call will be made Cheers Xtreme its been tough going, I've had to try and build it without first taking it apart, its like trying to put a jigsaw back together without the picture lol

  9. Ok next question, the ignition switch on my DT has a four digit number on it, would a yamaha agent be able to give me a key for it as i havent one for it P.S. sorted the brake plate
  10. Could some kind person please give me the size of the oil seal and "O" ring that fits into the speedo drive on the brake plate on a 1979 DT thanks in advance
  11. well small update, i've managed to get the front brake plate and speedo drive all back together, looking now for the small oil seal and "o" ring that fits in the speedo hole on plate, looks like a delve into the box's lol

    Hi all, would just like to say hello and let you all know that i will be calling on your wealth of knowledge and wisdom as i have had for the last three years a DT250 1979 in bits, well to be honest i bought a box of bits, its going to be put back together shortly, so will be calling for advice and location for bits as its not complete
