1. Hi Brig. aboard the YOC! At least you know she wants to enjoy the bike with you!
2. to the YOC! Can't wait to see pics of your xs850... absolutely love the cafe racers. I bought a spoke set from a guy based out of Calgary (http://www.myoldyamaha.com/). He was a great guy to deal with, but I haven't got a clue about any brokerage fees.
3. aboard Nicholai. Afraid I can't help with the kangarooing issue, although I did see something on the forum about bad right hand crank seals causing that. But I'm pretty sure that was on a two-stroke so I don't know if that's any help when it comes to four strokes. Good luck... I'm sure someone with more experience will be able to help.
4. Currently -16°C here. Mike and I ventured about five miles outside of town to have a hike and picnic at cherry springs nature area. Plenty of snow around here in the last week, and with these temperatures it'll stick around.
5. A woman arrived at a party and, while scanning the guests, spotted an attractive man standing alone. She approached him, smiled and said "Hello. My name is Carmen." "That's a beautiful name" he replied. "Is it a family name?" "No," she replied. "As a matter of fact I gave it to myself. It represents the things that i enjoy most - cars and men. Therefore, I chose Carmen." "What's your name?" she asked. "B.J. Titsengolf" he replied.
6. Awesome Bippo! Sounds like DIrtyDT has done this before. I'd say he's covered all the bases. Make sure there are gas stations often enough... traveling through Montana it seems every exit had "no services". Damn near ran out of gas in my car. For me, I'd probably take my extra spark plugs (but I always have those anyway) along with my tool kit, flashlight, tire patches, travel tire irons and air pump, and extra tube. But you may have tubeless tires... and they may not be as simple to change as mine. ?? Have a great time! And take lots of pics to show us.
7. Sorry I can't really tell you whether the bike sounds "normal". Can't really say I've ever been around that model (that I know of). I will say that you should pop into the new member section and introduce yourself. You'll likely get better response from the (knowledgeable) YOC folks. aboard!
8. aboard! I can't see anything about you on my phone... what kind of bikes do you have? Any likes/dislikes you'd be willing to share?
9. Have a look at this thread too (if you haven't already)... may be something in there.
10. wife to husband "how many women have you slept with?" husband answers, "only you darling... with all the others I was awake."
11. I'm listening, but have no knowledge to lend. Here's hoping someone else does.
12. Like Realrayzor I used the pills... Chantix was the brand I used. Didn't work the first time I tried, but it did the second time. Have to admit I've had a few puffs during the time I've "quit" but I haven't purchased any for five years (if memory serves). Just have to find what works best for you.

My nephew-in-law was going to come help work on the bike (and bring a propane heater), but he's been a no-show so I've bucked up and done it anyway. I may ask for a heater for my birthday though! I would love to have a nice wood stove in the garage. Nothing quite like the smell of a wood-burning stove. First I'd have to make room for it. The gears do seem to catch when I turn them so I ordered one just to be on the safe side. NW Vintage in Oregon had a few in stock so it should be here fairly quick. Got my airbox painted this morning and now I'm headed back out to take out that worm... and then cram everything back in the corner so I can pull my car in for the night.

Here's what I was facing in the garage this morning... Makes it really hard to work when it's so cold. My fingers were so numb it was all I could do to keep hold of anything. It did get up to 30°F though and I got all of the wiring in the headlight bucket connected up... except for my new indicators. When I got this bike it didn't have any indicators so I'll have to take a look at the wiring diagram to see where they plug into the circuit. ?? I'm terrible, I have all these grand plans to get things done in the evenings after work, but after dinner I'm down for the count. So, as promised, here's a look at the worm... and here's a look at the gear... The gear looks good to me, but the worm looks like it's been eaten away. As DirtyDT suggested there are slots down where the speedo cable goes so I'm going to unscrew that "pegged bush" (as indicated in the manual, guess I should've started there ) and (hopefully) get the worm out tomorrow for closer inspection. If I can clean it up well enough I'll use it otherwise it's about $15-$20 to get a new one. Thanks again for your advice you two! It's much appreciated.
15. Ah... I see. Then for local beer I'd have to say my favorite is Midnight Satin from Portneuf Valley Brewery here in Pocatello... or Mount Borah brown from Bertram's Brewery in my hometown (Salmon).
16. Too funny. Some clever folks behind those no doubt.

From Birmingham, England, not Birmingham Alabama.

I had my suspicions... about the football not about 'bama. EDIT - damn it! My phone will not quote posts right. and I'm too lazy to get on the laptop ATM.
