the engine is deffo not mk1 , i say mk2/3 , 85/88, the mk1 didnt have a powervalve assembly

sounds like bad earth somewhere , or most probably the main (key) switch knackered , have you checked the side stand switch ?

F*cking two strokes...
sounds like usual worn out symptoms , 2 strokes need compression, spark, petrol and secondary compression , lack of secondary comp is usually and air leak either through worn crank seals , an airleak from carb to engine , barrel gasket leak ,or reeds that wont seat down properly , good tip for getting the little sods to start in this colder weather is stick the plug in the oven and get it hot , put it in straight away and should fire , you could try easy start ...... as a last resort

it wouldn't hurt to run it on pre mix with the oil feed pipe off until the oil flows out then stop drain the tank and refill with normal gas , love those dt 125 lc mk 1's
