  4. Hi, I have only gone and bought the wrong throttle cable thinking it was the right one... Could anyone tell me the part number for this? Its off a 1982 model. Thanks, Ollie.
  5. Thanks DirtyDT I tried today what you said and I got a spark, it was the split to earth that I was missing. The spark doesn't really seem as strong as it is from the magnetos on my old British bikes but I've never worked on Japs before so I cant tell if it's normal or not.
  6. AHH I missed this!! Thanks very much!
  7. It definitely doesn't have a power vale servo, the cdi I have is a small box with black + red, black, black+ white and orange.
  8. Hi the bike is 1982 and the wire is black and white
  9. Well I found it at an auto jumble today in an old crank. Sorry about the different topic i just thought it was a different subject.
  10. Hi, I got a woodruff key today, so I think the alternator is all sorted. I tried wiring up one of the CDI's I have but I can't get a spark, is it possible to wire it up without going through the ignition/ kill switch or does it need bypassing some way? So basically I've got four wires from the CDI, two that go to the alternator and an orange one that goes to the ignition coil. What should I do with the remaining wire that would normally go to the main switch on the handlebars, should i be able to get a spark without this last wire? Of course the CDI might be knackered, can these be tested in any way? As I have a couple of them and I don't know if its this that;s not working or something else. the ignition coil looks new to me. Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. Ollie.

  19. Hi, Yesterday I went to pick up my DT125 LC 1982, It's a pretty nice looking bike and they've put quite a bit of money into it. However they haven't finished the wiring and I don't currently have a manual, does any of you know where to find free on-line manuals? Also I have part of the throttle cable that is broken (the nipple has come of the cable) so I need a new one but can't find them, so if you know where please tell me Pictures of the bike: Pictures of the wiring: The broken throttle cable: Thanks, Ollie.

  23. Hello, My friend is offering me a 1982 Yamaha DT 125 for £150 but there are a few things wrong with it. -The wiring needs to be put on. -The sprockets and chain aren't attached. However he does say the gears are fine and there is high compression. I was just wondering would it be worth £150 and what else should I look out for? Also does it sound like it would be a fairly easy job to get it going again? Heres a link to the picture:http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1660407521874&set=t.1155507960&type=3&theater Thanks, Ollie.
  24. Hi, I'm Ollie, I'm 16 and I am hopefully going to soon own a 1982 Yamaha DT 125. I own several classic British motorcycles such as Matchless, Greeves, AJS, Velocette and Triumph. I will be making a post on the Yamaha after this so any help and advice would be great. Thanks, Ollie.
