Feels slightly cooler today but I can't get out on account of responsibilities anyhow - maybe Wednesday
  2. agree that sort of thing can give you the willies looked like some kind of taxi type vehicle reminds me of a time, in the past, long gone, thousands of years ago (well seems like that) I had a van driving job the person employing me gave me more than I could do in the hours consequently you hurry, maybe take short cuts, your mind is on deliveries otherwise you find that you don't get home until much later than you should I imagine it's the same for service van drivers and certainly builders aren't good at watching where they are going - too many careless drivers about. Glad you showed the clip, helps us all realise what we are up against !

Can you believe it? After months of cold/wet weather - now it is just too close to be enjoyable riding. over the last couple of days the roads have been busy and one just gets too warm even with minimal gear as ever, the usual sitings of riders in t shirts, shorts and trainers - yes more comfy until somebody pulls out and they get dumped on the road despite being hot everything went well except for two pot holes, in the most unlikely places one on a motorway and the other on a dual carriageway, both quite bad, a nasty jarring bang.

this week end I've been something like 300 miles, partly on motorway where there was a lot of wind noise at higher speeds so......... I remembered this thread and when I got a chance I bought some ear plugs wow! what a difference. definitely a fan now

Say, for example, you were offerred a motorbike, as a project. You already have a motorbike but this one you are offerred is nearly complete, something to work on/restore I know that if it isn't taxed you would have to declare SORN but does it have to be insured? thought I heard something to that effect but not sure and I can't recall where I got that idea from. can you help with this please?
  8. just have to be sensible and not obstruct anything or anybody then generally it's Ok but it's a risk, if I don't know the place I look for for parking in Council car parks, usually free for bikes as bikes have nowhere to stick a ticket invariably there's bike bay somewhere there. Don't park anywhere near where a car is likely to reverse!

cheers CT thanks Re: It starts with a jacket, then maybe the odd DT, then before you know it you're dragging a japanese sports car out of a barn. the ultimate control is SWMBO very difficult to explain these things to the wife, just hope the second jacket arrives when she is at work so I can get it down the shed quick.
  12. 2 ebay bidding maybe you will have to go to seach to find the thread i don't know
  13. wore it last night for a bike ride out with a local group = quite pleased but yes I do look rather weird in contrast to all the supersmart bmw types (who look so smart you could almost mistake them for the waffen ss) but no I'm too ashamed to get anybody to take a picture and have it posted up
  14. sure is addictive - learning how to use it the hard way i think
  15. Feel for you Noise - I was in that position myself last year, that's when I bought a second bike - cheapie but I'm glad I did. Fortunately I had a little money at the time. We get so few decent days. Still, at least you do have a bike.
  16. Went out with the Oxfordshire IAM group last night, wasn't bargaining for 130 miles though.

latest turn of events is that I found, this morning, that I had bought another motobike jacket this one is a bit nicer but was more expensive - somehow I got confused and thought I got outbid on this one still, you can't have too many bike jackets can you - I'd like to think that I live and learn but still seem to make mistakes This eBay thing is a worry, I shall lay off after the latest round of orders

my Dad used to (wisely) say that there's no point fretting about things you can't control. however, Brown and Blair let us down badly, they seemed weak and only interested in their own importance just my opinion of course

nah - my bike is so nicely adjusted that it is a pleasure to listen to the tappets etc, not like the shakin' tin of nails that men called royal enfields, on the other hand i am concerned about my hearing....

Agree about MP's -the Economic community directives have gradually moved to a position where any person operating in a particular line has to be qualified to practice we age getting there, most electritians, hairdressers and car mechanics have some kind of qualification - but yet there are no qualifications for MPs, just a big ego (although there are some decent ones)
  21. yes I thought of the chain too- sometimes sections of the chain seem to sieze together, if you can spin the rear wheel on the stand, take a dekko

since you ask - if everything below that diagonal line with the 62 in it was plain orange it would seem to me to follow the spirit of the logo better, the logo is essentially an orange background with a white flah on which the black letters are placed but i don't know if it would look any better than what you have done

you been to a few places abroad ttaskmaster? I spent my first 7 yrs or so in Israel, my Dad was an engineer on a (British) refinery out there at the time, as part of his wider duties he designed a bridge nearby for the refinery transports and I remember how chuffed he was seeing a tank going over it around the time of the 6 day war, I think one of his old pals must have sent him a picture as I can't think that that would make the news unless it was just a coincidence that it appeared in film good old Dad.
