I have put in a K & N Filter and drilled the holes in the airbox, it works fine, but at the same time I drilled out the exhaust and the bike performance has improved on the acceleration and the hunting at lower speeds its a lot smoother and not so jerky on the throttle, only slightly negative thing I would say is that when you deaccelarate you will get backfires, going down a hill for example. I checked with the riders in the USA and they get the same thing, you can get rid of it but need to buy appox £200 of performance controller, me I put up with the banging.

Took mine in to the dealer in Trowbridge today to have the recall work done, dont normally ride that much in winter, could'nt feel my hands by the time I got there and so much shit on the road after the rain we have had, reminded myself why I dont like riding in Winter.

My bike has got to have the recall work as well, but in contacting the dealer and giving the VIN number I have found out that mine is a US import but they have agreed to do the work anyway so thanks for the heads up Graham

When I bought my bike it had the Yamaha hard saddlebags with leather covering on it. It had no hinges as such just a piece of material with 3 bolts securing each side and the locks on the opposite side. It looks OK but I have realised that there should be chrome hinges which have obviously been taken off. I talked to a yamaha dealer to see if I could buy new hinges and was told it was not possible and by the way a new set of panniers is just under a grand. Does anybody know where I could get some hinges? I think they are made in the states and wonder if its worth trying to contact someone over there, have tried all normal routes, ebay etc, and turned up nothing. Gerry
